Burrus fouls out, so it's time for our other bigs to "man up."

The absolute WORST BSC game I have watched in 21 years..... both sides....

Both LU bigs foul out with 7 plus mins to go....

Radford fouls with 4 sec on shot clock....

if you look at the stats, you will see 2 things that stand out: (1) the game was won at the free throw line and (2) with shots in the paint. That is to say, as a team, we only shot 4 balls from 3-point range. Even with our 2 bigs fouling out early, we found a way to win, mostly on the shoulders of our seniors--Jesse and David. Great win, guys!

Let's pack the house on Saturday against Winthrop.

It wasn't that bad. If you even watched it.

Having said that I think LU shot 3 for 15 within 2 feet of the basket.

Okay, maybe I'll reconsider that...

Frankly we could have won 6-5 and I'd be thrilled. There's no arguing the fact that we're gripping right now so an ugly victory is a welcome development. Hopefully it gives our younger players a boost of confidence.

Look, it doesn't really matter.
And look at how grossly bad LU and Radford are. That's the point. Even bad D1 teams should never struggle against the likes of VI and SU, even if just for one half.

Congratulations on the W. I lived through way too many years of the kind of season LU has been having, no fans deserve to go through it.

Wow. This is the dumbest argument. Stanford was up by one against Duke in football earlier in the season. The score was 14-13 and Duke's defense (which is like the worst defense in college football) had held Luck to almost nothing. Stanford blew them out. Additionally, Stanford went on to play in a BCS game while Duke won like 3 games all year. Would you honestly argue that Stanford and Luck are bad based on that? No. The score at the end of a first half doesn't mean anything except a slow start unless the score at the end of the game doesn't change. I get where you're coming from but you're reading way too much in to it.

What was going on with the giant flags on the back of Radford's jerseys? They were so big it looked like they were having a tough time staying attached.

This was the first FSN broadcast I've caught this year I think. What is going on with the graphics at the top of the screen? Waaay too busy. 10 different shades of blue and red fading in and out. Orange and red basketballs. Looked kinda public access.

Nice to get a win. Hopefully we can gut one out on Saturday and gain some confidence and momentum moving forward.

We just started a stretch of 6 very winnable games.

Radford
Winthrop
@High Point
@Winthrop
@Radford
Gardner Webb

Would be nice to rack up a few wins during this stretch. Maybe even go 4-2.

Nice follow up article on the game (about Minaya):
Liberty Notes: Minaya stepping up game
By: Chris Lang | Lynchburg News and Advance
Published: January 13, 2012
When Liberty guard David Minaya’s shot isn’t falling, he has a tendency to disappear on the floor. That’s not blind criticism. It’s fact. Three times this season before Thursday’s game against Radford, Minaya had shot worse than 30 percent from the floor in a game. In those three games, he averaged three rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Seven times last season, Minaya shot worse than 30 percent. He averaged 2.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in those games.

So Liberty’s coaches and players can be forgiven if they’re ecstatic over what they saw from Minaya against the Highlanders. He shook off a 4-for-16 night from the floor and was a major contributor, finishing with 11 rebounds, three assists and a steal while knocking down all six of his free-throw attempts.

“Had you not told me that [Minaya shot 4-for-16], I would have said Dave had his best game of the year, and maybe he still did,” Liberty point guard Jesse Sanders said. “His presence defensively and on the glass was huge.”

Part of Minaya’s surge Thursday was a more conscious effort to be a strong team leader, something he admitted he had to work on after Tuesday’s loss at VMI.

“Something coach [Dale Layer] stressed Saturday [at UNC Asheville] is taking ownership of this team, and that’s something I haven’t been doing a great job of,” Minaya said after the VMI game. “We have a lot of young guys, and it’s just me and Jesse out there [as seniors] with [John Brown] not playing. I’ve let my team down in a lot of areas. Just like Jesse said, we’ve got to man up. It just comes down to that.”
