Why would Liberty be spending ANY money on his defense? :dontgetit

The answer is easy. Liberty is paying nothing for his legal defense, directly or indirectly. Nobody at Liberty or affiliated with Liberty has assisted Asa Chapman in any way, shape or form with paying his legal fees. The subject has never even come up. In fact, I don't recall ever meeting or even speaking with Asa Chapman. I wouldn't know him if he walked up to me and said hello.

I guess the detail that we didn't know was that he was guilty and would admit so with a plea bargain?

So who gets held responsible for having an admitted, guilty felon playing on our football team?

That's irresponsible, unfair to those who obey the laws of this country and the school, and downright embarrassing.

or blame it on the guy who's not around.

But in this case I really do blame him. And whatever Dean is in charge of student conduct.

Add in the administration for allowing this to happen. It's not like this was an incident with a normal student who nobody knew. This was the biggest guy on the football team. It's going to be tough to convince me that the proper protocol was followed. Of course, we're still waiting for the details that will show us that everything was on the up and up.

I must have missed the "Have dope in your car? Just tell us!" hall meeting announcement.

It's hard to spin this any other way than ugly. He should have never been allowed to finish the season and should have been kicked out of school.

And as much as I love our chancellor, I disagree completely. If this was any other student at Liberty, they would have been removed from campus and sent home. I hate to keep rehashing but something tells me that Rocco was plenty aware of the guilty plea and allowed him to play knowing that he'd be gone at the end of the season no matter what happened. He wouldn't have to keep answering the Asa questions and he knew it.

Pathetic.

Are you talking about Rocco or Asa? Cause now you're talking about Asa. It was Rocco who "did something bad and went and found a new job." It's kind of like John Calipari leaving UMass & Memphis before the hammer came down. Like him or not, it was a smart career move.

You beat me too it. :D

I can't believe you all have missed the most important fact in the story. He GRADUATED from Liberty. So he has a degree just like the rest of LU grads.

Glad to see they suspended his liscense for 15 months. I mean that worked so well as a deterrent the last 2 or 3 times.

TD and ADAM doesn't look like we will be on the Christmas card list this year. The safe road now into dump it all on the coach who is not here. But whatever the compelling reason we don't know about is, it kept him out of jail. It didn't get the felony coke charge dropped so it couldn't have been THAT compelling.

I tell my son all the time that not all of his decisions are going to be the right ones. I also tell him that my decisions won't always be the right ones either. (He was shocked:) ..he's 17.

My point is that if you make enough decisions, there will be a few that you really wish you could have back. We owe it to our administration to allow them to make a few of those decisions, and still offer our total support. Let's move on. We have a lot of work to do in the program. Now put your helmet on and get out there and execute the next play.

Why? It's one thing to admit you messed up. It's entirely different to shirk the responsibility and basically wash your hands of it.
