Let. It. Go.
To paraphrase a coach 'RD is not walking through that door. RD will never walk through that door again. We are here. We are the ones walking through that door. Forget about what we were and focus on making us better."

Ps Firing JB does NOT count as making us better. He is the AD, he has no eligibility left anyways.

I still support the teams, am at most every game and recognize who is AD. But certainly think we could have been in better shape. Hope we can find our way to regain the program. If not then JB should be accountable.

That is pretty much the most reasonable thing you have said yet!

Agreed PH...but to ToC and IMBach, if we do decide to do things your way and change the AD, who would you replace him with? (and as I said before, lets have some actual names and not just talking points)

Does LU right now with healthy players that are playing, have more talent than Gardner Webb??

compare records and strength of schedule..??

I know LU will win some games, how many is the question??

FWIW, I really like the core of players we have...if Holtmann can keep them intact and add a 6'6" type of post player or two, we really could be quite good next year. The only two seniors we have are Buggs and Brown, and Brown has been MIA with injuries. The only game this season so far we have had absolutely no shot whatsoever in was at Indiana, that to me speaks volumes about Holtmann and his staff.

I've changed my mind and think TorC and his ilk are right let's just review some facts

1. Truth: A coach lost three straight first round games in the Big South (at least according to a post on this board listing the results for the last several years).
Consequence: He should get a contract extention. Though many would argue, given the overall quality of the BSC means no coach should lose three in a row, certainly one that recruited superior talent can't be expected to win every year or even once every three years.

2. Truth: The third of those was against a overmatched VMI team.
Consequence: Despite the fact VMIs coach designed a zone defense on the drive to Lynchburg and the team only practiced it during the walk through, it is wrong to think that an experienced D1 coach could adjust to such a tricky move so again, his contract should have been extended.

3. Truth: The first basketball hire was regarded as a coup and was even mentioned on CBSsportsline as positive for Liberty.
Consequence: FIre the AD because he should have been able to see the future and know that everything was going to blow up.

4. Truth: Every college AD prefers to have his own coaches in place if it is reasonably necessary.
Consequence: Fire the AD for not renewing the contract after losing only one conference championship. Wait that was football and the coach left on his own, nevermind.

5. Fact: Riding several successful football seasons Liberty is able to expand the football stadium and have the best facility in the BSC.
Consequence: Fire the AD because certainly he doesn't have anything to do money being raised, and think how big the stadium would be now if he had extended the contract of the basketball coach.

6. Truth: Carr and Associates say that Liberty is in the best position of Div 1-FCS to move up to FBS
Consequence: Lets fire the AD. How dare he put Liberty is such a horrendous positon.

7. Truth: It's been a long time since a certain coach has been let go.
Consequence: Apparently it is permanent in the mind of some people who can forgive multiple mistakes of someone they support, but can't understand a reasonable decission to not renew a contract because they disagree

Haha, that's great. Every time TorC, ImBach, or whatever crappy names he comes up with posts, we should just copy and paste this reply and let him continue to have a conversation with himself.

Because I disagree with the move and believe we would be way ahead program wise...no need to lump me with PH, T/c or anyone else. I will stand on my own opinions and can evaluate what I have seen and am seeing.

Ok IMBach, I'll give you the same assignment I gave ToC...lets say we do decide to do things your way and get rid of Coach Layer and Mr barber...who do we replace them with? Remember, I need names and not talking points

Im just challenging them to think about what theyre saying (or at least hinting at). I was listening to the radio on the way home and the local talking head was discussing replacing a coach and he said to someone that if you want to get rid of somebody, you have to ask yourself who would be their replacement?

I should know better, but it's been several years & I can't help myself.

(Obviously, I have some agreement with the dissenters) ... but....

1. Opinions on RD are not welcome here, probably because they have all been expressed over and over, and most people are therefore tired of them, plus it seems non-productive at this point in the history of the program, and negative toward any future successes.

2. To be fair to JB (am I really saying that?) there were many people here, who are still around
now, that wanted RD gone before JB ever came onto the campus. I know that JB wanted RD gone very early, somewhere around Oct 16th, basically before the season ever started, so I don't really think it had much to do with wins or loses, and he even said that had Randy won the BS, it would not have been enough to save his job. AD's make decisions, maybe there was pressure, maybe JB didn't like RD, maybe RD was too strong a personality with too many ties to the city .... but
AD's have the authority & the right to make change, and JB exercised that.

3. RD has moved on. RD & LU have each gone different directions, and it is best to do our best to wish the other well.

4. One of RD's oft used expressions is "It is what it is."

On this one, by now, "It is what it is."
