That makes me laugh. It may be wrong but sometimes it's fun to laugh at stupid comments from those with truncated mental faculties.

How serious is this Big East talk from Jibrille? I'd assume he wouldn't put something like that out unless that was used in his recruiting pitch? Do any of our billboards have to do with trying to brand near some of the schools that are in or headed to the Big East? Obviously marketing is marketing... but SLY, are the Houston billboards anywhere near where the university is located? Just curious as to how credible this is and when we may see a move if he's accurate. It gets me excited. With SMU there we wouldn't be the lone 'religious' school.

The Big East talk is highly unlikely. They have finished their expansion and the Catholic non-football schools aren't crazy about letting us in. I think it was more of a statement that we are headed to FBS and we'd love to get into a league like the Big East.

SJ - I'm not sure specifically whether he had a received a formal offer or not. But I got the strong impression from Jibrille that they had. I know he was getting offers and invitations for official visits all over the place the last month or so from FBS schools.

This is a great new addition to Flames Football!

I've been off the FF board for most of my 11 days off work on vacation... we shut down at Christmas... it's great working for the government (Air Force). And then I come into the office this morning to this great bit of news about Jibrille. Sweet!

He looks to have some great size.

Congrat's Coach Gill!

I like the spiritual commitments and priorities of this young man as well.

You mean I need to read the whole thread before posting?

I'd edit it, but then BJ's comment wouldn't make sense, so I'm going to leave it. Let it be a reminder forever that I need to read first ;)

TallyW wrote:So that's it? Nothing at all to his comment. I'd think a JUCO transfer would know the difference betweensaying FBS and naming a specific conference.
I wouldn't put too much stock into it. I'm thinking something like this happened:

Jibrille's phone rings.
It's Coach Gill.
JF: Hey Coach
TG: Hey Jibrille. Did you hear my new job?
JF: Yeah some school I've never heard of.
TG: yeah Liberty. They are currently FCS but fully expect to be in FBS in the near future, perhaps as soon as next year.
JF: That sounds cool. What conference?
TG: Not really sure. Maybe Big East, CUSA, Sunbelt

What JF heard: "Big East"

I get nervous when I hear , its "where God wants me to be" as someones main reason for coming to Liberty. It has a little Mckay Factor in it. What if God changes His mind?

I disagree R I. Jibrille had immensely viable alternatives, and the "where God wants me to be" stance, and subsequent commitment comes from his set of values. This is different than McKay, who had just been fired from New Mexico, and jumped at the opportunity for him to get a job, or rather a stepping stone, and thus was paying lip service to administration to secure said job.

It's different when talking about a player rather than a coach. Especially a JUCO player. He will only be here 2 years. Heck, that's how long "God led" McKay to be here.

Liberty University’s Jibrille Fewell, a native of Rock Hill, can focus solely on football now that he’s selected and signed with an agent.
LES SCHOFER

His hopes of a pro football contract tossed to the wind in tatters, Jibrille Fewell had to reassess his immediate future in early July.

The Rock Hill native and former Liberty University football player went undrafted by the NFL in May even after five straight months of training, and his phone remained largely silent during the agonizing free agent months of May and June. Talking over an unclear future with his mother, Grafonda Ruff, at her home in Rock Hill, Fewell knew who he had to call.

Incredibly, Kristie Beitz called him first.
