Obviously Turner is a fan of food, word is they took him by Hibachi Grill to seal the deal after Olive Garden and Crown then back to his hotel. He now has experienced 2 of the 3 things that make up Lynchburg...restaurants, hotels and third being churches.

Yeah, a lot of my friends are scared, because of the two years he had at Kansas. I have to remind them that he completely turned Buffalo around and won 3 national championships as QB coach at Nebraska. I personally think this is one of the best hires Liberty could make.

I don't care about the Kansas job... except that they will be paying him for a while which may have helped us in landing him at a reasonable salary :) (My guess is that his contract will have a step-up scale to it.)

What I do care about is his Buffalo stint. That job is a much closer comparison to Liberty and what we need right now. All indications are that he is being brought here to transition us. The fact that Rocco mentioned that in his recent interview confirms the thoughts many of us had about his departure. DR didn't want to do that dirty work. There is an easier way to BCS for him than this. For Gill, this is a perfect situation and one that he's had success in recently.

This is a HUGE moment in LU history. If he comes anywhere close to what he did at Buffalo we will be talking about his hire for generations to come (not exaggerating).

I think everyone has to be skeptical going into this. I mean he obviously had a good run at Buffalo and he did terrible at Kansas. However, neither of those programs are really committed to football. Kansas pretends to be but a lot of their fans forget football season once basketball starts. LU has obviously evolved into a football school and I think giving Gill a shot is worth it. We obviously have the most resources in the Big South and even if Gill doesn't work out, I don't think he can harm the program any. I'd actually be surprised if this wasn't planned a long time ago...

I don't want JoePa anywhere near this school.

I have a feeling that this is going to have a real steadying influence on the recruiting class for 2012. Maybe we will see some names that Rocco may have been seriously targeting drop off the radar for Coach Gill (because of the differing philosophies) but I think that we should still come out of it with a very solid class come Feb 1.
