LUconn wrote:I know this is basically over, but Houston Nutt is available. I know Sly loves the Nutt boys. If you remember about 7 or 8 years ago Dicky Nutt spoke in Convo one day and coached his baskteball team to a win over us that night. He's got a killer resume.Unless you know something more than the fact that he is on campus, I'd say it's way to early to conclude it's "over". Clearly there is mutual interest and he will no doubt be interviewed. That's far from a hire. I for one will be disappointed if we hire a coach without bringing at least 2 or 3 candidates to the mountain.
I'm hearing that there won't be a parade of candidates coming through town, as campus visits will probably be limited to the top one or two candidates for the job.Id prepare to be disappointed if I was you

BJWilliams wrote:Well based on this comment from Lang:I agree, if Gill wants the job then you have to strike while the iron is hot. There are other schools that will likely be interested in him also.

I had Turner's name spit out of my mouth before we even had the Rocco team meeting.I'll give you 2nd, If we are going to be blowing our own horns I believe I beat you to the name Turner Gill by 20mins and 2 post on page 1 of this thread.

I mean they did they Arkansas St search too and came up with Guz Malzahn? Former Liberty University head coach Danny Rocco thinks the day is coming when the Flames makes their first appearance on Virginia’s football schedule. However, he’ll be seeing the Cavaliers a little sooner than that. Rocco, introduced Dec. 7 as the new coach at the University of Richmond, will make his Spiders’ coaching debut Sept. 1 when Richmond opens its season at UVa’s Scott Stadium. He’ll be returning to David A. Harrison Field for the first time since November 2005, when he was wrapping up his fifth season as linebackers coach and associate head coach under Al Groh. In all likelihood, the opposing quarterback will be his nephew, Michael Rocco. Michael Rocco is the son of Lynchburg Christian coach Frank Rocco, who probably will be in the UVa parents’ section, not cheering for his brother. “Oh, I’m sure he won’t,” Danny Rocco said. “Hey, my daughter won’t be rooting for me either. I’m a big boy. I can take it.” Rocco’s daughter, Amy, is in her first year at UVa and already has inquired about a job in the UVa football office. “They’ve got her brainwashed up there,” he said. “She’s on board.” (Bullet) As for a potential UVa-Liberty match-up, “sheer numbers, all of a sudden, are pushing that to 2016 [or] 2017,” Rocco said. “I think in the not-too-distant future, [the Flames] will make an announcement about making a move to FBS. How long it takes to get that done is out of my hands.”http://hamptonroads.com/2011/12/uvarelated-notes
