So my thinking is, Montana is coming so we can open it up with a great game to have our best crowd ever.

Anyone else have any thoughts?
Is that still the plan? I thought expansion was pushed back.

Expansion is fluid, it does not have a set year as in 2015, it is based on when Liberty can open enrollment and get rid of the 12,500 cap that is currently set. Once the new high rise dorms are built and possibly a few new dorms and they raise the enrollment number then phase 2 will begin... who knows about phase 3..

That's depressing. It might take awhile to get to that considering how much construction we already have started or prepared to start on the mountain.

What happened to it being completed in five years? That's what they said once expansion plans were announced.

If we move to FBS, we'll start selling out.

You're too late. We already spent millions on an if statement. (notice the boxes)

you're new around Liberty huh??

I think it might be written in the Liberty Way somewhere that nothing happens when they originally say it will. Nothing.

The sooner you come to grips with that the better you'll be

Both my parents graduated here, almost all of my extended family goes here and I've been coming to football games since I was born. Not really new and yes I've become used to things never happening when they're supposed to. However, I'm optimistic about that trend changing. I was really hoping that it wouldn't be that way with the stadium but I guess I was fooled.

Dont mind postie...he has become jaded with all the project delays over the years. The original plan had been to expand the stadium in 5 years, course the economy hitting the floor changed things and Im sure a few other things that we dont know about. Im sure that theyll get back on track soon enough (especially with all the realignment stuff Sly has hinted at on a few occasions)

BJ what about the economy has changed since they announced the stadium expansion and built the first upgrade? Don't just make stuff up. FYI when everybody thought we were ready for the next great depression was winter '08. If anything the economy has improved since then.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I do know that BJ heard the Chancellor's remarks from the radio station. JLFJR said that LU was going to be conservative with growing the student body infrastructure because of trends, spurred by economic considerations, for students to not attend 4 years.

Here is a quote from JLFJR from the Champion:

"The new plan for dorms and classrooms could easily accommodate 20,000-25,000 students. The national economy will affect how long it takes Liberty to reach that enrollment goal. We intend to watch national trends closely as we grow and adjust as necessary so that we do not over-build or build too quickly."

Bama is right. If you listen to the interview that JLFJR gave to 90.9 (or read the article in the Champion newspaper), the economy is going to affect the student body infrastructure and could also, I speculate, affect things like further expansion of the football stadium. You have to think that they arent going to further expand unless there is need for it (either realignment considerations or attendance forcing the next phase of expansion).

Not jaded simply realistic.

I wasn't saying that to negative it just is how things are around here. We dream big, which is good, but then we realize it will take a bit longer to attain these large dreams. We almost always attain these things it just takes time. I think LU is being smart about the expansion and was ill advised to put any kind of time table on the project. I do remember them saying it was tentative though which means they are learning putting definitive dates on things is not the best thing to do.

Several Grizz fans I work with (sister site in Billings) are surprised. The only way they can see this happening is..... We go and play them in 2012, and when they make their return visit in 2015 we are FBS and we pay them money.

I agree the economy will effect things, but the economy has been the same since before they announced the 1st stadium expansion. The only change has been Lib's reaction to the economy. When they were building it was to take advantage of the low construction cost due to the economy. Now they aren't expanding because of the same slow economy.

I'm not upset about this at all, but I didn't want BJ to think he could pull that spin machine out without someone catching on. 8)

The economy would affect it because you arent getting the butts in the seats. Now that also is affected by things like on-field product, but if people arent spending their money on going to LU football games, and filling the stadium, they would Im sure want to hold off on making that next move in the expansion process.

Now back to our regularly scheduled (no pun intended) discussion

I'm just saying I want two games on the schedule whenever possible within say the next 7 years or so. Kansas and Richmond. Of course two W's = little revenge for you little spite for us. (love rocco, no bad blood, just saying).
