Maybe a Turner Gill/Ron Brown combo?!? Hey, a fella can dream.
I believe we call that husker Heaven. If its Christian it ought to be better Right? I am sure that there are several other Doc sayings that Apply in this situation? Thoughts? What would Doc do?

That is an interesting one, but he's only been a head coach in that one region of Washington. He's dealt with smalltown college for sure, but can he establish himself quickly enough in the Mid-Atlantic region as recruiter?

Just saw Barbers light on in his office on the way to get some breakfast at hardee's, I wonder how much sleep he is losing over this situation. :( I know I have, I just completed my third all-nighter wondering how are football program will fair next year.... Just to think all this happened so close to finals!  :|

He ran a tight ship at Miami, as he turned around their image. He also runs a Pro-Style offense which, considering the loss of Brown, is something we should look in to. I think he would also tap into Florida markets while scaring the fire out of Rocco and Matthews. Additionally, I haven't found anything about his faith but I did find out that he had a rough upbringing, which could have positive and/or negative effects on his views.
I am a big time Miami Hurricanes fan. However, let me tell you that we do not want Randy Shannon. He's good in running a tight ship. This is one of the reasons his name was mentioned for the UNC job. Randy is not a good gameday coach. His teams come out uninspired vs lower ranked opponents. Trust me, if he were coaching at Liberty, we would beat teams like Coastal & Stony Brook, but find ways to lose to Presby & VMI.

After saying all of that, I think he has the potential to be a good head coach someday. I think he's better off as a defensive coordinator.

Listen to Kelly....

I have no doubt our new coach will at least be from FBS if not the NFL

This. Not sure why anyone is seriously mentioning FCS head or assistant coaches. JB has made it clear this person will have "high Division I experience" and mentioned some other recent HC hires here at Liberty as proof this is the direction he will take. It was in the WSET interview inside the FOC.

I want to feel for the first time in years that our players have discipline....I hope whoever comes in, has that in mind.

:exactly

I think a lot of our problems this season came from being undisciplined. Too many fumbles at key moments killing our momentum, too many stupid penalties costing us yardage or giving the other team a first down when we had them stopped. Too often struggling against teams that a disciplined squad with our talent would have beaten easily.

I chose my words carefully :D

But I will say this...in baseball, I've personally seen it a million times where "clubhouse distractions" quickly find their way on the field. So I actually think they are one of the same.

Would be neat if a "top notch, high profile, DIV 1-A or former NFL coach" contacted the University, unsolicited, about the job for two reasons .... he wants to help the University succeed at the next level .... and more importantly train champions for Christ!

You want discipline? You want a high profile coach who would command any room he enters? You want NFL experience? You want an outspoken Christian?

Sure, he's the assistant head coach in Minnesota ... but for how long?
Sure, he turned down his alma mater in a BCS league a couple of years ago. But that was back before he had head coaching experience. It's tough for alpha dogs to run second.

Sound crazy? Absolutely. Could it happen? Long shot but not impossible.

When has the LU football program EVER had that? I can remember sitting in Dr. Falwell's office, with more than two dozen RA's, SLD's, etc. showing him the multi-page document of all the minor offenses (Reps given out but not enforced against football players), and major offenses (reports from students who had seen a myriad of behavioral issues around town), and having him simply dismiss us and say that the football team dealt with issues internally. Considering how often Dean Gomes would joke about the stuff Eric Green got away with in the years before I was there, it seems clear that all the talk about LU being different from all other universities was never applied to the football team.

You'll see evolution taught in the classrooms before you'll see a football program that is disciplined and held accountable at Liberty.

Worst gameday coach I've ever seen. Players have spoken out about how he does nothing but negative reinforcement. There's a reason why SF improved drastically under Harbaugh, and it's not all Harbaugh. Singletary is an absolute joke of a head coach.

Have you even suggested anyone or just spent all your time slamming almost every other suggestion as a candidate for the job?

If you could read you would have noticed that a I've actually suggested a few folks and agreed with some of the suggestions as good ideas (like Mike Groh, Paul Wulff, Scott Wachenheim, etc.). Just because I correctly want to pass of proven failures doesn't mean you can act like an ignorant prick and ignore the others. Sorry I haven't lived up to your standards, but since those are irrelevant, you can go play with jbock and TorC in foe land.

I'd love to see Paul Wulff come here, I mentioned him as soon as the job came available. He's been in both FCS and FBS, and was doing a great job at Wazzu given the situation. I've never seen a guy get fired and universally praised by his peers and the university like Wulff was.

I know I'm a Wach basher but I just pray that we don't bring him back. I just don't see how they think he fits in with what Liberty is trying to do. Yes he has the experience at higher levels but is it really worth it to bring him in despite his character issues?
