I know it's a weird predicament. That's why I stated yesterday him going to UR was just that, weird.

Not sure I am adding anything new to this discussion but here goes.

1. I am thankful for the contributions Coach Rocco made to our football program and university and I wish him the best.
2. It seemed clear that his time was coming to an end as early as last season. I am thankful he stuck around this long.
3. This seems the perfect time to move on. We are looking to take the next step and we need someone with the passion and vision to take us there. Coach Rocco didn't have it anymore. Not a knock but seems clear from some of his comments. We need a guy who sees where we want to go and says "I believe I can get us there!" Coach didn't believe that anymore.
4. This is a critical hire for the future of our program. With FBS talk and continued facility upgrades that are raising the profile of our program we need someone who can handle the added scrutiny and represent all that LU stands for and has to offer. I am excited and hopeful about the future.
5. As someone who has not lived on the mountain in 15+ years I have to say that from the outside looking in I have every confidence in our AD. From here it looks like he has done a stellar job with our athletic department and I am very comfortable trusting him with this hire.

OT, but y'all don't appreciate Lang enough IMHO. Solid coverage of your school from someone not afraid to tell the truth and be a sunshine pumper 100% of the time. G-W has the same thing in Alan Ford from the Shelby Star, and we are lucky.

I'm not sure who you're referring to. I think everyone on here appreciates Lang. IMHO, I'm glad he isn't a homer and afraid to tell the truth. Whoever doesn't like Lang, should have to walk the Flamefans plank.

Same goes for Barber, not sure how anyone could not like the guy.

He does kind of have an arrogance to him that makes him unlikable from the outside looking in, but I don't know the man at all so I am not qualified to make judgement on him. Other then that he has done very little to make himself unlikable so I am not sure where the hatred comes from.

I wouldn't go with arrogant. He's just not very emotional. I've talked with the guy before and he's as nice as they come. His wife is also an awesome sweet lady.

again I have had no interaction with him. When I was a student I saw him around but never spoke with him. There is something about him that makes it easy to understand not liking him, but the hate that some people have for him makes zero sense. I have no idea if I am even making sense. I am tired, haha

I'll second that. He is one of the reasons that I enjoy contributing to the continued growth of the athletics program. Personality wise, he's the closest thing to Dr. Falwell than anybody else in the administration. Not making a negative comment about the others, but JB is really a very approachable guy (though I might not test that today or for the next couple of weeks!).

Makes me sick. We are an amazing University. As we are all Liberty Flame-atics We all know how special this place is that I believe is more so than other universities (I know that they all say their special) and We desire a coach and staff that want to be here as much as the Fans won't to be here.
We are to a level (largely due to the work or DR and JB) that we can offer even high profile coaches what they need and deserve if they want to be here. I know some of the top names might be a stretch but if they won't to be here what we offer as far as facilities, growth, future, and benefits (money) is now much more competitive. So almost anyone that would want to be here and see us succeed could now afford to do so.

That's What I want. We need a 30 year coach, not another 6.

Agreed. It's been nearly 15 years for me as well, and it looks like a completely different situation from the outside. I know FCS fans in the DC area that are aware of Liberty and all seem to think we're a program that is moving up fast.

What if the 6 year coach is good enough to get us to FBS and set us up for a legit FBS coach to come in and the 30 year coach is only good enough to keep us where we are?

Nobody coaches 30 years in the same place anymore. I'll take 5 very good coaches for 6 years each over one good coach for 30.

Agreed. He often came into the bookstore on campus & was friendly with everyone working there. I like the guy.
