bottomline...inability to live up to the hyped expectations of LU Athletics, early on had serious athletic transfers through the UVA/FBS connections...6 years later those are gone and the pipeline dried up. Seriously gambled with ASA decision hoping to get to play offs. Stony Brook has a better team and momentum. Seat is getting warm, Richmond is in chaos....I am a Flame no longer but a Spider.

Some of you have bought into how athletics is being handled, but who are we and what is important.
You applaud mediocrity and criticize anyone who questions the path or decisions...just hire I man who wants to be at Liberty, who wants to have an eternal impact and can coach winning football. Heck as I have said you have all the $$$ in FCS and play in arguably the weakest conference. It is not easy but in reality very doable.

Yet we disguise our level of athletic effectiveness/achievement with our media campaigns/hype. We have trashed LU lifers who were getting it done and had momentum. Let's get real and beat somebody. Then Chris Lang will do all the media hype for us.

Oh, no he didn't. To be fair to Chris, a lot of the time he is the only rational person here.

I must be doing my job right, since I hear half the people inside athletics think "I'm out to get Liberty," and some people here think I'm employed as a PR firm for the school.

Once again, marketing is getting confused for undeserved hype.

If you think this place applauds mediocrity, you really have no clue what is going on. There is a difference between being a fan of what we have because it's ours, and being happy with whatever results we get.

LUconn is spot on, again.

Winning is more important than Building Hype. We just have marketing resources.

and by the way, when I say "here" I mean this board. I have no doubt that there are a ton of yes-men around campus that will make out with mediocrity. Which is another problem/topic altogether.

I dont agree with anything TorC said. But I think it was a shot at our Administration for "hyping" and not winning.

He was trying to say if we Win instead of Hype, the hype will follow through natural outlets such as the local beat writer.

Again, I dont agree. I just think he is being misunderstood.

Pretty obvious he's had a foot out the door for a while, and thinks he can do better. That's fine. Sorry you had to step down from your academic tower for your first head coaching job. Carry on with your career path. Enjoy not having to yell on the sidelines, because the 2,000 students at UR would rather watch a sailing regatta. We are more big time right now than they will ever be.

I don't think you can watch that interview and not think worse of him, but it's probably more because he has to say the right things for Richmond which will inevitably disparage LU

This is exactly the thoughts that came to my mind. He took shots at our conference and academics not even 2 minutes into the interview. He mentions the word "academics" at least 6 times in a 15 minute interview. Never knew they were a big deal to him.

From Lang's most recent blog:
Danny Rocco wrote:This isn’t about me versus Liberty. You know, Liberty’s going to be FBS. They’re going to be in a legitimate conference in the FBS in a few years, a number of years. I wish them well. As for the process that goes into that, I think right now this situation that I have just accepted is a better process for me. That’s what one of the reasons why I’m very much at peace and very comfortable with what we are doing.

so I guess that answers one question about what this moves means about LU. I'm pretty happy with that.

Simply put you will continue to do a fine job of covering LU Athletics and have the opportunity to write stories/features on championship and play off runs. That will excite the community for greater involvement. You have shown professionalism and balance.

Dear Koach Rawco, Pwease kept our footbball game in the years 2013, 2014 so that when we can play it, we are thought of as higher edukation.

I would think if you were employed by the schools PR firm it would be a step down for you! Based on how certain situation were handled though you may look at it as a challenge!

LANG, quoting Pat Kelly wrote: It definitely came as a curveball. It’s more shocking that it’s a lateral move. He’s not making a step up.”
tells me that at least some of these kids see it the way we do.
LANG, quoting Pat Kelly, also wrote:“From a leadership standpoint, I think the thing is that guys need to come together and not necessarily worry about who is going to be our next coach. I really think that we need to all come together, and that we still need to work hard. We need to realize what our goals are. Just because a coach leaves us, it doesn’t change what we want to do. We still want to make the playoffs. We still want to play for a national championship. We still want to play in the NFL. That’s not really affected by who your head coach leaving. More than anything, we need to realize that we’re all in it together. We’re all brothers here. And at the end of the day, we’ve got to have each other’s backs, no matter who’s our coach.”
I love that dude. Looking for a BIG season from him next yr

FWIW Lang, I've said it a million times and even told you this. I without a doubt think you're completely fair and have resisted on taking 'easy shots' when they were available.
