Carr’s Liberty consultation isn’t being done with a specific goal in mind -- i.e., a quick move from the Football Championship Subdivision to the Football Bowl Subdivision once the NCAA moratorium on moving between subdivisions ends in August 2011.

With conference affiliations in a state of flux right now, though, Liberty wants to be in the best position possible when the next shift happens.

“For us to get better -- and we’re not good enough at anything yet -- we need an outside set of eyes to say, you know what, we need to do X, Y and Z,” Barber said. “That’s what he’s going to do.”

Kinda random bump, but has this group finished their study? I'm sure we've gotten some kind of report from them. It's been a year since this news first broke.
I guess no one knows. Cue BeeJay: Paging Chris Lang, Paging Chris Lang please pick up the white courtesy phone...

I despise the bowl system and would much rather see us getting into the playoffs year in and year out and contending for a national title rather than any ridiculous bowl bid we would receive in the Sun Belt, MAC or CUSA.

Incredible. No wonder he and Dr. Falwell got along so well. Watch this entire video and then understand two things -

1. Art and Jerry were great friends
2. Art built our stadium and saved our school

Then ask yourself again if we are going FBS. I bet a lot of this has rubbed off on Jerry Jr. as well.

Sorry I actually was busy eating dinner. Which ironically enough I washed down with a tall glass of strawberry kool aid. Seems appropriate now!

20 extra scholarships at @26k = @500,000. Per year. I guess we can have Everyone by a Ul policy and invest the difference.

felt very ironic having a david platt sermon up on one window absolutly ripping materialsim to shreds and lifting up the example of john wesley's exorbatant giving and how he refused to live on more than 28 pounds a year no matter how much he made, and then watching a speech on "how to win in business" on the other page.

note: im not accusing art here of anything, as i surly hope and in faith of his character believe he gives away tons of his money for the sake of the gospel, just thought it was ironic. now back to my writing my paper thats due tomorrow.

Speak for yourself! I'd love to see Liberty play Cincinnati in the BBVA Compass Bowl! You wouldn't want that t-shirt?

Would playoffs and competing for national championship be fun on the FCS level? Yes. But you need to look at what's best for the school and all the athletic programs, not just whats more exciting.

As neat as making the playoffs or even winning a national championship in FCS would be, the amount of Money gained and the amount of noteriety would be like 1 miniture Christmas light bulb next to the Living Christmas Tree of 1 FBS Bowl! I love the FCS a ton, but the big picture to grow to what Doc wanted is FBS. The timetable is the question, and I trust our Chancelor and AD to gage that timing and ride the waves of the conference tsunami.

Rooster sighting!

And RVAparks, the Big East has been very busy ... as have the conferences just below them. Expect a flurry of announcements in the coming days.

I think the problem is that those like me, who aren't in favor of moving up to FBS anytime soon, are looked at as if we never want to go FBS. Of course I do. I just believe we have so many hoops to jump through before we get there. We can't just do it overnight.

Having said that, I hope I get to see it in my lifetime.

I can't stop thinking about what scenarios move us up. I can see the Sun Belt/CUSA being a good fit for us to make the jump
