Will you be pulling for Stony Brook in the playoffs?

I couldn't stand to pull for CCU last year, but I have no ill-will towards SBU. They are a good team and could do some damage. I hope they beat Albany and I hope they go down to Texas and knock off #1 Sam Houston St.

We should hope that SB does well. No one argues that the best team didn't win the BS, and if SB is the best of the BS, it would do nothing but good to see them advance. Not only do they represent the Big South well as a team, they are also light years ahead of any other Big South school academically.

Not rooting for them. It would be easier for me if they were a Southern school, haha. The fact they have just basically profited out of Hofstra's shutdown is just hard for me to stomach. Who knows where their program would be without all the former Hofstra players, my guess would be not very good.

I am pulling for SB. I hope one of the BS teams goes deep in the playoffs. Plus it will make our victory over them next year that much better.

I don't understand all the talk about Hofstra. We have four Hofstra transfers. Stony Brook's football program wasn't full scholarship before Hofstra closed so they were going to be better now no matter what. Hofstra closing absolutely helped Stony Brook, but that's just Stony Brook's situation now-they're the only division one program on Long Island.

Brock Jackolski, Miguel Maysonet, Reggie Francklin, and Andrew Nelson transfered from Hofstra, but it's not like Hofstra closed down and these kids had nowhere else to go. Maysonet had IA offers when Hofstra closed, but decided he wanted to stay close to home and play at Stony Brook. All four of them are Long Island kids that wanted to play their college football on the Island. These are kids that Stony Brook now gets out of high school, and that's where the program is.

No but they play. I think Francklin has two starts at mlb because our starter has been a little banged up recently. Nelson has put up decent numbers in his two years at SBU, but he hasn't been a starter. I just noticed that Nelson didn't play against Liberty.

For all of the grief we receive for our transfers from UVa & VT, frankly we don't hold a candle to the transfer factory there on Long Island.

In other words, nearly one in three football players on the Seawolves roster started their college career somewhere else. And that doesn't include postgrad prep schools. In contrast, we have 11 FBS transfers & 2 FCS transfers.

Disingenuous? I don't think pointing out SB success and good fortune at landing transfers as being disingenuous. Transfers seem to be a vital piece of the puzzle for success in the FCS. In fact I think Rocco's presents here is key to LU landing outstanding transfers. One more reason I don't get all the Rocco critics on this forum.

What's being argued is that Stony Brook wouldn't be as good as they are now if it wasn't for Hofstra dropping their program thus leading to Maysonet and Jackolski. The transfers you listed didn't come to LU because Pitt or UVA or VT dropped their football program.

And a "list of best players during the Rocco regime" shouldn't include Ausberry, Greenbaum, Garner, and Hicks. There's a lot more "homegrown" talent than those listed.

I agree. The fact remains that SB has a good program and there's no reason to think they're going anywhere anytime soon.
