ESPN Evaluation wrote:Cook is an active and productive run stopper with the ability to pressure quarterbacks off the edge and up the middle. Although he lacks the desired height we look for when evaluating inside linebackers his intensity and playing speed consistently get him to the football. This guy is a tough.

There was somebody very important missing from Booker T. Washington’s first session of practice on Monday.

It was linebacker Calvert Cook, who is one of the top players in the state.

But Bookers coach Che Jacobs said Cook had a good reason.

Cook is in summer school not for failing a class but because Cook wants to graduate early. He is following a popular trend where high school football players opt to graduate high school early in order to enroll at the college of their choice in January.

“He wants to be able to be in college early,” Jacobs said. “He’s a smart kid. He’s already scored 22 on his ACT.”

Cook has 11 offers to date, including from Old Dominion, James Madison, Western Kentucky and Western Michigan.

I like him...very quick off the snap, good nose for the football, he anticipates the count well (although that could garner him a few offsides calls in college), definitely a hard hitter, I woldnt make Ray Lewis comparisons but I think he would be a very solid 3-4 middle linebacker
