First, the bar passage rate is the worst in school history...........worst in the state! Come on LU. I think someone needs to start looking for a new dean. LU should not put up with this nonsense. More evidence this man is just using LU for himself and his law firm

Second, a very good law professor has lost his license to practice law. After meeting this man and his daughter and listening him, it seems like he got hosed. His level of intellect goes over the heads of many and I hope everyone keeps him in their prayers...http://www.kansascity.com/2011/10/13/32 ... phill.html

Seems like last time we had the best rate in the state. I wonder why the extreme fluctuation.

That link leads to the bar passage rates for every graduating class. The founding dean was Bruce W. Green. Had major success. The class sizes were smaller than now and that could be the reason....

This link shows the new dean and when he took over. Now go back to the bar passage rates. Maybe there is a correlation, but it is all speculative.

However, with all that could be said, If this were a football or basketball coach and the records kept at this pace I would assume everyone would want a new man in charge.

In February, LU did score 100% percent on the VA Bar. But, that could be misleading....LU sat only 5 students, but some or all could have been repeat takers, but I would guess 2 or 3 were first time takers. I wish LU could claim the Chancellor if he ever decides to retake the bar....Im willing to bet he would pass. lol

hahaha.....He pretty much named himself as dean. If I remember correctly. The Board of Trustees appointed him, however he was also on the Board of Trustees.....

It wont happen unless a Canerish type of bad publicity floods the university.

yeah but how long could that take? I dont think the ABA is going back to Lynchburg anytime soon.

I date a LU law grad. She passed the bar and has a job as an attorney in Charlottesville. Her boss even pointed out to us that the only reason she got a job as an LU law grad was because she interned for her for a few semesters while she attended UVA....

It is sad. I would love to share the stories I heard from a former professor at the law school. Also, a dean from another law school who happens to be an LU alum.

BuryYourDuke wrote:Well the sad thing is that it started out so well, and apparently is tanking pretty quickly. Law school is a different animal than getting a marketing or business or nursing degree. The reputation of the school is close to everything basically. We can't afford for our law school to get a worse rep than it would already have for being LU. It needs to be a great, unassailable program to be a success.
Sorta like if it is Christian it ought to be better? :D

Well, stop using Foundations class as a filter to get rid of some students that might not be typical liberty students....this would help with the numbers.

Also, stop making the Bell Curve so narrow in terms of grading. I am sure this is LU's way of filtering out students that they do not think will pass the bar, but It doesn't matter if LU students grade would equal a higher GPA at other law schools when employers compare GPAs. As an attorney in NC told me: "how can I compare someone from LU with a 2.9 and someone from UNC with a 3.5?"
