Chris mentioned groin/hip in his write-up but on TV it looked like a groin injury based on his reactions on the sideline.

Coastal Carolina routed by Liberty

By Ryan Young - ryoung@thesunnews.com

LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Coastal Carolina coach David Bennett had said earlier this week that his football team was embarrassed on its last trip to Liberty’s Williams Stadium, and he talked multiple times about the challenge the Chanticleers needed to be ready for Saturday upon their return.

But in the end, this visit might have turned out even worse.

That's Norman's "finishing move". Same thing he did to Summers last year.

I just went back and watched the replay of that. My initial impression yesterday was that it was an uncalled horse collar tackle. But after watching it again, Norman got his arm around Holloway's neck, but he didn't have any jersey at all. It was a clean tackle. The one against Summers last year was a clear horse collar.

Way to go Flames! Lost our focus for a little bit, gave up 3 TDs (to a team certainly capable of scoring in bunches ) in less than 5 minutes (game clock time) but shook it off and came back to finish strong. Good display of character and something to build upon as we press on toward our goal.
P. S.
What airplane? hah - actually my first thought was ok - good for you - now go fly over Charlottesville...

Not saying this one should have been a penalty, but they were both high tackles, and both unnecessary. SirChauncy was going out of bounds, and Summers was crossing the goal line. I don't know why there is so much love for Josh Norman on this board. He's a very good corner, but Summers outplayed him for the second year in a row, and he took out 2 of our players with tackles that I would consider questionable if not illegal.

Did anybody see a replay of the one punt that I thought hit off our guy but the refs said it hit off a coastal player, therefore it was our ball. Seemed to be it definately hit one of our guys. We got away with one right there.

Great effort in all facets. Can do without the black jerseys. Where in our school colors is there black except maybe when Jerry Sr. died and we wore black arm bands :dontgetit

Old ... disagree with you on last year. Norman won that battle. Summers caught a long TD when the game was well out of reach in the end. When it mattered and Brown threw fade after fade to Summers early in the game, Norman won the battle every time.

Norman probably won the first quarter yesterday against him as well, but Summers recovered nicely and played very well the rest of the way.

Great win, great team performance. We finally played up to the potential this team has for the majority of the game.

BUT we have to put it behind us. That win means nothing if we lose any of our last 4 beginning next Saturday with CSU.

Thought the same thing at the game .... then saw it on a delayed telecast last night .... looked like a good call.

Norman -vs- Summers ... worth the price of admission! Both looked excellent! Norman obviously handicapped last night, or he would have had at least one pick.

JM says Rocco can stay for at least another week  Good play calling! Teams that double up on Summers are going to get burned.

Nice win :!:

Great job by the guys last night, excellent effort. Continued play like that and we will go to the playoffs, but we must focus every game, every down the rest of the way.

Rumor has it Coach Bennett has ordered an entire truckload of kitty litter to be delivered to CCU tomorrow. I luv the guy, think he would make a good assistant coach for us some day. I would like to have him on our team.

I think I noted that earlier manson. Two dominating wins like this makes the Charleston Southern game next week even MORE important. These guys cannot take the foot off the gas down there. We all know about the last time we were and we cannot have a performance like that (especially against a team that is pretty beat down right now).

Chris, I think the thing that people are overlooking about Summer's game last year is that he beat Norman deep not once but twice, resulting in that TD and an early pass interference call in addition to 7 other catches. The long TD was not IMHO a "garbage time" situation. That score cut the lead to 14, with plenty of time left, and we squandered an opportunity to cut it to 7 later on with Summers out of the game. Yeah, Norman did a good job taking away the fade pattern, but that play wasn't working against anyone at the end of last year. Opponents had it figured out, and quite frankly, Mike isn't very good at making that throw.

LOL haize and medic....you guys are soooo funny. this was an absolute whipping in all aspects, though that little defensive lapse was a bit disheartening. It is great to see the guys come out firing quickly. Now its time to beat CSU into submission, and hopefully we can get a big lead and continue to rest our injured players. great to see medic, sj, and sch14 as well. medic did need a booster seat to see the game though

Norman should have had 2 picks last night. Mike under threw Chris twice and they were right in Norman's hands. Chris had to turn into the defender. He had no chance to catch the passes.

When a player has the combination of size and athleticism Norman has, and he is playing CB instead of WR, chances are there is a reason.

Good point, as always, Olldflame. Norman's job is to bat balls away, not catch them.

Great game!! Lots of good "kitty" references by the students!

Sirchauncey has an injury to the "cervical bone". He says he will miss the Chuck South game, but will be ready for the Presby game probably. He said it's still real sore today.

Personally, I really liked Streeter's play calling for this game. Nice mix between pass and runs, with a few unique plays using Tyler and Mike both.

Can't wait for Chuck South!!!

Thanks for the updates!

This might be a good week to take it easy on some starters who have been banged up. We still need to play well enough to win. But getting folks healthy for Stony Brook and possibly the postseason are really becoming more important right now.

in 2009, norman set the single season conference record for interceptions.

as for the game, i clearly thought that you guys were at least a couple TDs better beforehand anyways...especially playing at home. i didn't expect that outcome though. oh well, on to the next one.

Actually this is the thing that concerned me most...a lot of the students stuck around but again, you have us pounding teams into submission...really you can only hold so much interest when your up 42 points or so
