How much snow will Lynchburg get between Friday night and Sunday?

My prediction: 2.5 inches of slush.

Fortunately, I live 2 hours to the north where they are calling for up to a foot.

Maybe an inch of slush, not much at all.

It snowed at the beach today, and it hasn't snowed here yet this year.

I just talked to my wife back in the Burg, and she's expecting 4-5 inches by Saturday night.

Where's that forecast coming from? I checked weather.com earlier and they're not calling for too much (unless it's changed).

An inch is enough to close down Lynchburg for a couple of days. If you guys get real snow ...

I hope it doesn't snow until I get home this afternoon! Not trying to get stranded in the State Capital. Besides the fact I have a game to do tomorrow night and Monday, I really don't like the snow that much anymore. I loved it as a kid but lately, not so much. BTW Kel Varson I recognize the Seinfeld reference. It took me a while but I knew it was a pop culture reference. That is the name Jerry used when George had the Vandele Industries "job" when he was filing for unemployment :D. Funny stuff!

if anyone cares- forcast for the Philly area is 6-12 inches. The nice thing is I have the weekend off so we can take the kids out and enjoy it a little. Nothing worse than trying to drive an ambulance or firetruck thru a foot of snow. except maybe driving on ice. or into school busses.

This is nothing. We got 35 inches in two days in Flagstaff last year. That was fun, especially sliding down the hill to Phoenix to catch a flight to Portland the next day.

Has the Commonwealth of Virginia ever bought any snow removal equipment for Central Virginia? Or are Lynchburgers still supposed to wait til the snow melts?

They sort of plow the main roads, but that's about it. Other than that, it's a "wait on it" sort of deal. I quite enjoy living in the "snow border" states. It makes snow all the more fun when everything shuts down. Especially if you're a still a kid in K-12. I remember living to see that my school would be closed for snow. What joy that can bring to a kids heart!

Unfortunately, its a weekend where LU is already closed...since coming to LU, its closed down 3 or 4 times for snow in the past 3 years. But whether 3 feet or none, classes or no, one thing is definitely certain...basketball will be played in the Vines.

We did a preliminary snow-blowing; used to it up here, but only made one snow man this winter.
News said that Central Park (NY) is close to the 26.? inch record. It's funny to read abt. Lynchburg maybe getting in. of slush.?? Some friends just got back from Cal. few days ago; said they mostly sat out and enjoyed sun.

The cold front you guys are feeling now came through Texas a couple days ago and we're definitely feeling the cool. Its in the Lower 60s today and it got down into the Upper 30s last night for our coldest day of the winter. Otherwise, its gorgeous down here. I'm beginning to dread the chill when I head east on vacation next month. Brrrr.

Went outside to help clear a little. Going down road on sled with my 2yr. old was great!
It was easier pulling her back up hill than to build a snowman- which couldn't be done with
this snow anyway.

This snow sucks, I'm not even getting a day outta school from it.

It makes good snow balls though in case, hypothetically, you want to sneak attack someone walking to their car.

Got a little over a foot with drifts over two feet. Thankful it isn't a heavy snow. First time my 15 mth old went sledding. He wasn't impressed at how fast I could pull him. Taking tylenol now.

I'm w/ BALDSPOT on the Tylenol- also, overdid it shoveling and now I taste blood when I take a deep breath. We ended up w/ a foot or so as well, roads are fine now and the kids will be back in school tomorrow AM. (nothing like VA in that respect- PennDot had 400+ plow trucks out just in the SE region alone last night.)

here's what it looked like out my front door and back door around noon today.

SJ...LU rarely cancels classes, and NEVER Sporting Events, and Convo is only cancelled b/c of weather (not power outages).

And in other news, East Campus OWNED the Circle in a snowball fight...now the ideal would be is that they'd shut up and stop trying to create a rivalry with us, as we really didn't want to have one in the first place...only reason for going over there: they wouldn't let it die after we showed no interest for the past year or so.

Off campus kills all of y'all so it doesn't matter if y'all beat some kids at the circle. I mean, really, we have more freedom and don't pay nearly as much, who cares about snowballs.

Let me rephrase what I said earlier, "I wish it woulda stayed until tomorrow so at least I could use the excuse, 'Hey, my car was snowed in and I live off campus and couldn't get to school' to maybe get out of a class. They don't hafta know I drive a Jeep."
