In Division A

Tennssee 14
South Carolina 11

Florida State Canceled due to Rain
South Florida

Auburn 16
Kenesaw State 5

Tennessee 13
Clemson 8

Wake Forest 8
Central Florida 7

Division B

Scad 24
Alabama 1

Emory 6 at the end of the first quarter. I will update later.
The Citadel 1

This is what I know from being almost 1700 miles away from the SELC. Emory and Scad look to dominate the SELC with Teams like UNC Charlotte, Elon, Davidson and App. State in the chase with Emory and Scad for the Division B Championship.

Furman and The Citadel will win a few. Eckerd College from Florida will be tough. Unless Metallo can really get going Look for Liberty pulling up the rear with Alabama and Southern Virginia in the SELC Divsion B. This just may be a rebuilding year. Scad sure beat the daylights out of Alabama and Emory from what I hear beat up on the Citadel over the weekend. Both Emory and Scad will most likely make it to post season. Eckerd College out of Florida may be the darkhorse.

Pete is right the Team lost a lot of top Players from last year. I refuse to comment on Metallo because he really does have a developmental program to work with for this year. 2004 All American Michael Dean should make a dent for them on Offense. I coached Michael in 04 and 05 and he is a great Player. He is a Native American from Western New York. Michael is coming off surgery on his ACL. They also will feel the loss of Cory Noseworthy. Cory was the SELC Div. B Offensive Player of the year in 2005 with 43 Goals. Cory transfered to Salisbury University in Maryland.

Look for Liberty to be competitive and to play all or most of their games close. Also look for some surprises and upsets. The Scad game in my mind will give me an idea if they will be competitive for the season or have a shoot at the post season.

If this is a rebuilding season for LU Lacrosse it still maybe a positive thing. 2007 and 2008 could pan out to be the best Liberty Lacrosse Teams yet.

Like Pete says Dr. Falwell needs to put more into the Lacrosse Team. If they continue to rebuild and keep bringing in some solid talent over the next two years they will be right back up there with the likes of Elon, Davidson, App. State,Scad,Emory, Eckerd College and UNC Charlotte.

UNC Charlotte is also a very much improved program and will be a hard game for the Flames.

On Division A in the SELC. It looks like Tennessee is making some noise with big wins over South Carolina and Clemson. Auburn looked good in their opener over Kenesaw State and Wake Forest opened with a win over Central Florida. The Florida State game with South Florida was canceled. Florida State has the talent and the financial backing of their School along with good organization and a great Coach and seems destine to go all the way in the Conference. But Tennessee may be there to meet them. Also look for Virginia Tech to be tough and in the chase along with Georgia Tech. Look for disppointing seasons from Florida and Georgia. Clemson will be in the same boat that Liberty is in the division B as a rebuiding season.
Also I don't see a lot this year for Central Florida or South Florida. South Carolina and NC State may be dark horses. Only time will tell for the Wolfpack and Carolina. It sure seems like both programs have improved. But look for East Carolina to come out of the woodwork and suprise some heavy hitters in the Division A.

Those are just my takes on Liberty and the SELC.

All the best,

Scores around the SELC this weekend:

Division A

Friday Night:

Wake Forest 9 NC State 7

Saturday:

Georgia Tech 18 Presbyterian College 4
Wake Forest 9 Tennessee 7
Florida State 22 Mars Hill College 9
Auburn 15 South Florida 6
Vanderbilt 12 South Carolina 5
Georgia 13 East Carolina 9

Division B

Friday:
Scad 13 Emory 12
Southern Virginia 11 Alabama 7

Saturday:
Davidson 11 Furman 2
Eckerd College 13 Emory 9
The Citadel 11 Alabama 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Florida State rocked NCAA Division 2 program Mars Hill College from North Carolina. Florida State may have the team to go all the way and beat one of these programs from either the Rocky Mountain Conference,Colorado State, Colorado,Utah or BYU or UCSB, Cal, or Sonoma State from the WCLL in National Championships in Dallas this year. Georgia Tech also knocked off NCAA Div 2 program Presbyterian College. What people don't realize is some of these Club programs are way better then some NCAA programs. One of these days the NCAA and US Lacrosse will work out Title 9 and make a NCAA Lacrosse League from Coast to Coast making all these Club programs NCAA. Also on the Division A level, Wake Forest is turning it on with wins over NC State and Tennessee.

It looks like Eckerd College from Florida is for real with a win over Emory University in Division B competition. Scad also knocked off Emory. Scad has a tough Team this year. Like I said before, The Scad game will give me an ideal if Liberty will be competitive this Spring. Davidson College walked on Furman University but I'm surprised Davidson did not score 15 or more goals. The score report said there was a lot of rain during the game in Greenville, SC. Southern Virginia played a close game with a week Alabama Team.

I will update scrores around the SELC on Sunday.

thanks again Coach- I'm looking forward to seeing if the guys come outta the gate hungry or not. I really wish someone would drop in here as well- all emails I've sent and posts on their board have gone unreturned. Just hope things are coming together for the team.

Scores from around the Country:

Division A

Central Michigan 14 Purdue 13
Washington 14 Pacific Lutheran 13 Div.B
North Texas 17 Rice 11
Texas 10 SMU 9
Texas Tech 12 Texas A&M 3
UCSB 10 Chapman 9
UCSD 15 UCLA 9
Cal Poly 15 USC 9

Division B
Utah Valley State 13 Western State 8
Harding 11 Missouri State 10
Southwestern U. 11 Oklahoma 2
St. Edwards 13 Texas Christian 0
Claremont 22 Biola 10

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

USC = University of Southern California
UCSB= University of California Santa Barbara
UCSD= University of California San Diego

Some teams in most of the Country still have not started due to winter weather. Also these games in Utah were played at the Utah State Varsity indoor facility. Oklahoma and Texas Christian Lacrosse programs are in the same boat as Alabama and would be in Division A but they are devlopmental programs or new Teams so they are in Division B with the small schools.

Big upset by Texas Tech over Texas A&M. Tech is also for real and is showing folks we can play the game in the dusty Desert Southwest. Texas Tech is a 5 hour drive form Albuquerque. Also in the Lone Star State SMU gave Texas a scare losing 10-9. SMU is on the move and is improving with every game.

Yeah I assumed that just be the case since both St. Eds & Southwestern are tiny Austin area schools who would have no business beating such large schools for any other reason.

I absolutely loved living in Austin. We only moved to Houston for family reasons. Southwestern is one of the more elite schools west of the Mississippi (sister school to Northwestern) and it is underwritten by its most successful alum Red McCombs. Everyone at the school is there on some type of endowment scholarship. St. Ed's is almost completely a school for overseas kids. It is the sister school to Notre Dame. And Texas is the largest college in the nation and they are quite proud of their enormous nature.

The chances of me EVER turning anybody in to KVB at WLBU were ZERO. If anything, I was the one getting turned in. There's a reason I was pushed out the door at that station. You must've been confusing me with Scott McCall or somebody else. There is no chance it was me although somebody might've blamed it at an easy target. I was the one getting constantly scolded by a certain faculty member for being too over the top myself.

My buddy Rowdy Joe told me he ran into Frank the other day at a restaurant in South Jersey. He was telling him that he hadn't heard from Chris in years. I actually have corresponded with him several times. He has that parody site that is WAY over the top but still rather funny nonetheless. He's living up in Maryland. As for Mike Hooker/Allen, nobody seems to know what happened to him after he left Disney. It was like he vanished off the face of the planet.

Sorry for the highjacking ... but we don't have many venues for these type sof discussions these days. And this thread is as good as any.

J-E-S-U-S keeps on loving me, J-E-S-U-S he's my everything.

I still can't get the tune out of my head nearly two decades later. But I promise you I NEVER ratted anybody out. I was Music Director one years and I butted heads with Bev Buffington on a regular basis as far as her extremely subjective standards were concerned.

Its been twenty years now and I guess I should be surprised that KVB would sell a brother up the river to avoid a confrontation. But I assure you I never turned anyone in.

As for Mike, I wish I could say I was surprised. but I can't.

Next time you talk to Frank pass on greetings for me. Joe seemed pretty impressed with how Frank turned out in light of the direction he seemed to be headed when we saw him last at Liberty. Then again, most everyone on campus thought Joe was dealing drugs out of the back of his van with NJ Devils logo on the back. :D I miss those days. Good times.
