I can think of another Texan that could come here

It'd still be interesting to go, but work interferes. Hopefully, someone can give me some insight into how it went and what he talked about.

It was really kinda dry. He tried to not make it campaign speech, and without that it was just kind of story about his upbringing, and Christian values. Not anything on social issues, just saying America is Christian, etc.

Hopefully, Governor Perry had his Aggie Ring on. He is a fine ambassador for Aggies and Republicans alike. I know the Governor is not as popular as W was as Governor, but serving over 10 years in office, you can collect enemies.

We as Americans need politicians that are straight-shooters and honest, and from everything that I have encountered with him, that is what he is. I would be proud to have Gov. Perry as the Republican nominant for President and then, hopefully, President of the United States.

Whoop all you want. Soon you are going to have to completely change all the lyrics in the Aggie Hymn once you no longer are ever playing your big brother school again.

I watched on TV, and actually thought it was nice that it didn't come off as a campaign speech. I liked the fact that he seemed to be talking to the students rather than using the platform only for campaign purposes. It was the first time I had heard him speak at length. I know some have made the comparison to George W. Bush, but I don't think they are similar at all -- style-wise or otherwise.

I was given to understand he was told at the last minute that he was not allowed to make a campaign speech, so he had to come up with something else on the fly -- why he had to refer heavily to his hastily prepared notes.

Not making a political speech made him come across as sincere and affable, however.

One of my concerns with him is that he signed off on the Texas bill (the only state to do it so far) that required all school girls 11 & 12 to get the HPV vaccine (for sexually transmitted desease). It is only necessary if you are promiscuous, and totally unnecessary if you aren't; the assumption is that everyone is... I don't want my girls required to take it.

Yeah the whole HPV thing is big in the news right now.

I give him the benefit of the doubt that he messed up. It's refreshing to hear a politician admit when he's wrong. However, I hope it wasn't because he was bought off (which I suspect).

I disagree with it, not because of some of the extreme conservative crazies say, but simply the government should not force anybody to be vaccinated.

Let me admit I'm a bit partial to Perry, but I contend he was bought off to mandate those vaccinations.

You think the government SHOULD be able to force your child to be vaccinated for an STD?
Not for an STD but for things like hepatitis, MMR, polio etc they should.

BYD, Liberty is not a church. Obama spoke at NCSU today. Perry spoke at Liberty. What's the difference? Just because Liberty's students are mostly Christians doesn't mean they shouldn't allow politicians to speak.

Seems like when you allow all individuals to come to Liberty we're "being used"...yet if we only heard the sermons from a paster then we havent "been exposed to the world outside of our bubble." Damned if you do, Damned if you dont.

I actually like the amount of culture we receive...I feel the same way about this as I do LU teaching evolution. Give me the facts and your opinions, then allow me to construct my own conclusion.

Drudge linked to a Washington Post article about Perry at LU.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ ... print.html

Look closely at the url for the Post story: "perry casts himself as anti-intellectual says his life shaped by faith". Yet the title of the story says "Perry casts himself as spiritual, says his life is shaped by faith". Real subtle.

Im glad you like to be so technical, although it is obvious they are referring to Christians in general and not just LU's current student body. NC State is about as republican as LU.... :D

HAHAHA, I actually googled it to make sure it wasnt a curse word and I came up with this "damned |damd| 1 (in Christian belief) condemned by God to suffer eternal punishment in hell: (as plural noun the damned)"

So I felt ok saying it here

Or MMR diphtheria ect  it's sad that it has to be a law, but when you have crazy parents out there who try to feed their baby a vegan diet and it dies from malnutrition you have to have laws in place to protect the kids.
