Absolutely, positively, NO excuse to lose.

They lost to Dayton. We competed with NC State. Accept no excuses, let's get revenge.

Last year's debacle was a result of a classic trap game. It will not happen again. Print it.

I think Robert Morris will finally get their pounding...a year late...but it will happen

I thought I was going to get to see this game in person. Unfortunately, my wife's high school reunion is happening DURING the game

So rather than watching Liberty stomp Robert Morris, I'll be hanging out with the Class of '86 from E. C. Glass. :?

Agree we will win, but wasn't Dayton was a Top 25 team at one point last year?

Heck no! they whined all the live long day about being a top 25 team on every message board imaginable. theirs was the emptiest 10-1 record I ever saw. They didnt even play Jacksonville (the OTHER team from the PFL who whined all the live long day about being ranked and a playoff team...they got served 31-9 by the Citadel yesterday as a point of order)

I thought Dayton were in a few polls ranked last year. Anyways regardless....

Yeah, getting beat by The Citadel is pretty embarassing.

RMU's junior quarterback, Jeff Sinclair, was sacked 8 times by Dayton :) Dayton won 19-13. RMU held Dayton to 26 yards ruching in 22 attempts.

First off, Dayton beat RMU last year two weeks before the Colonials beat us. So take that with a grain of salt.

A year ago, the RMU QB was apparently fairly obnoxious on the field. I have a feeling that 8 sack total will be eclipsed Saturday by a defense with a long memory and confidence brimming a surprisingly strong effort vs. NC State.

Hopefully we'll have some RMU posters rejoin us again this week like we had a year ago. Their posters were classy and they added to the conversation.

I'm back...it was not a pretty game against Dayton on Saturday. The Colonials OL had a very tough time handling the stunting of the Flyers front 4. Dayton does not typically bring a lot of pressure, dropping 7 and allowing their very talented front 4 work stunts to get free.
Mental mistakes were also huge for the Colonials. As they were driving, they would get a dumb penalty setting them up against 2nd/3rd & longs and you can't do that at any level and expect to win.
I know Liberty is ready to make an example of the Colonials. I just hope the Liberty players and coaches show class if the game is out of reach early and not try to make run up the score late into the 4th quarter.
I know the Colonials will be ready to show that last year was not a fluke but I believe Liberty is ready to take that extra step forward and show the rest of the FCS that they are a team in 2011 to be afraid of.

Running up the score? You do realize this is football, right?

I do understand this is football and I actually did play the sport...I know...I know...weird to find someone who posts that actually knows the sport...LOL

I expect a very physical game on both sides of the ball. Last year all I heard was how the Liberty players laughed at the Colonials stadium and facilities when they arrived there. They did not take the game serious at all and expected the just show up and win. I know Liberty is going to make it a point to make an example out of RMU and best of luck to Liberty.
I just hope that Liberty does not sleep on the Colonials again. I'm not calling for the upset but I know the Colonials will continue to hit and play football until the end of the game no matter the score.

I'm just saying do not expect any mercy as far as the score goes. Apparently losing to a pre-season hyped ACC team makes you move down in polls. Maybe a thumping of RMU will move us up.

Nah. Rocco won't run the score up unless you are down 21 with less than a minute to go and you decide to call a timeout on defense. In that case, history has shown (twice, I think) that a 50+ yard TD pass from MB to Chris Summers is in your immediate future.

Great to have you back, Original_RMC.

I hate to speak for the players but I admit as a fan it was hard not to snicker at the facilities compared to what we are more accustomed to playing (with the obvious exception of Chuck South who facilities you guys blow away). So that was probably a valid point. There is no question that we didn't take the Colonials as seriously as we should have a year ago. I know for a fact that we must have underestimated Myles Russ. That kid was nails against us.

As for running up the score, I wouldn't expect that to be a concern. We have had a slew of 50+ games in recent years with our offense near the top of FCS on a regular basis. But once we get big leads, we substitute freely. Unfortunately the backups who rarely play want to make plays too. And as 01LUgrad referenced, you don't want to tick our staff off with late shenanigans or we call off all bets.

Frankly I am not sure what to expect from our guys. They will clearly be keyed up looking for revenge in front of what will likely be a huge crowd weather-permitting.

Care to share?

I am not sure the student section does quite the extensive research they use to.

38-14 LU. Our defense proved against State that they are LEGIT. And our fast paced, high octance offense is going to be difficult for any of the rest of our opponents to deal with. Especially RM.
