Well, there kind of is. Denmark has started an initiative to create a "perfect society" that has completely eliminated the mentally retarded. They are doing this through pregnancy screenings and abortion. There are many in this country who would love to see this happen in the US as well. Thank God that they are a minority....for now.

Also, letting doctors councel women with unwanted pregnancies is not always a good idea.
Women who have become pregnant need help, not only through their pregnancy but after the child is born (and I'm not talking governmental help). The ultimate goal is to preven the pregnancy in the first place, but once it happens, we need to do what Christians are called to do.

I would like to throw out one addendum. When talking about abortion it IS imperative to clarify. There are several 'types' of abortion.
1. Abortion as birth control. (heinous IMO and I believe the most frequent type )
2. Medically necessary abortions. In order to save the LIFE of either mother or child. This is a tough one. How do you counsel a couple in this situation? While these are rare the decisions are painful. Do you give up your life and have a child reared without a mother and knowing that their very existence was only possible because they killed their own mother? What about the husband/father? What level of resentment will they have towards the mother I'd she snorts? Same if they have the child?
3. Abortion in the case of rape or incest. Tough one to be morally consistent on and posing similar ethical questions to the one above.
4. Forced abortions. I would put this along side of #1 but I know of several cases, usually involving a teenager where the parents demanded she get an abortion when the teen wanted to keep it. How is THAT for parental consent.

See this is why people who drive around protesting abortion don't talk to me very long.
On a side note I took part in one of the first Operation Rescue marches where I grew up. No graphic signs. No hate speech and we got our message across

I mean they kind of already do this. My wife is pregnant and there are many tests they offer early in the pregnancy to see if the baby is likely to have certain conditions. They say its so parents can prepare but they are done early enough where abortion would be an option. So it may be much closer then people realize.

Out of all the issues chrisitians get fired up about abortion is the one that makes the most sense. We are talking about murder here and nothing more. People focus on gay marriage bans and crap like that but it effects nobody but them. Abortion effects innocent unborn babies. It still blows my mind that this is even debated

I'm not the only one who had to take creation studies right? Does nobody remeber the eugenics movement in the US? Seriously we've actually been down this ugly road before. If you want to look at some scary stuff look at the founders of Planned Parenthood and their involment with eugenics. They basically wanted to use it to wipe out certain segment of society they viewed as inferior(including the black community). When you look at who is using the PP clinics...well it's interesting to say the least.

The SOB cut off a bunch of traffic over by the mall again today. Good grief the way they drive several people may end up looking like the pics on the truck!

Same with my two boys. I changed the direction I was driving just to avoid them.

Of course, the local media goes and finds a few LU students who agree with these goofs (typical). But in my conversations today with fellow historical majors, I didn't meet anyone who agreed with the way these guys are going about it. One said that he had children too and was disgusted by it all.

I say we disagree with them, and I call them goofs, because as we all know we are all pro-life (at least 99.9999999% of us). However, I, and many others completely disagree with their antics, and I am proud that Liberty did not allow them on our campus.

Do you mean that Liberty did allow them on campus?

As far as I was aware, they started out on campus but LU didn't allow them on campus because of their signs.

I don't know if that's true or not. I highly doubt however that LU would allow them to be positioned near LCA the way they were. So that's just my speculation that LU didn't allow them on campus (plus, where they were set up today, technically wasn't our campus).

I'm just proud of the fact that those of us who were put off by this nonsense were able to stand up and say so. I'm so proud to be part of a university where we don't just preach hatred and fear... we preach the Gospel and logical arguments that prove our the faith in Christ in our lives. We don't just say "God hates gays". We do not compromise on our values that it is a sin, yet we show everyone the love and grace of a God who is willing to forgive us and our past actions. I was so moved by Dr. Towns sermon today... Liberty is a new beginning. It certainly was for my life.

After all, lust is no different a sin than an abortion.

Thank God for offering us salvation from our sins.

I'm pretty sure at this point, that they're doing it on purpose. At 7:50 this morning that truck was parked on the side of the road in between the candlers mt rd 460 offramp and the bridge. Probably where half of LCA students drive by on their way to school. Then I saw that stupid truck drive by the actual school at 3:10. I couldn't think of 2 worse times to be driving by if you're trying to avoid school hours.

Its Friday... and they're still here. I love how they can't just get lost and find a school who really could use their ignorance and hate.

Got out of the car again today to take the kids in to school and there were 2 of the trucks right in front of the school yet again. One of the LU Officers was at one of the trucks having words. Go AWAY!

Sad part is half of our own support this stuff. We need to learn to tell those who we may agree with when they're wrong. Abortion is murder. But this sure as heck isn't the way to change minds.

I was leaving Wal-Mart and the trucks drove past and I wanted to throw up. I mean I know they are trying to make a point but this is NOT the way to do it

They drove by while I was eating lunch today. Absolutely not the way to persuade people that your way is right. Satan attacks from "the inside".

they didn't drive past me today...just thought I would point that out since apparently that is what this thread has now turned into. Very interesting.

The amount of money they have spent on a campus that agrees with them (in theory not the way to go about it) with the trucks doing circles all day every day they could have paid to have adopted quite a few kids

I was bored and was searching around and saw this topic. Don't mean to bump this but I would say that 95% of people agree that they should stop preaching to the choir. Like the day last week they put red tape over their mouth. I just dont get what they are accomplishing by being so vocal about this issue at Liberty. We get it its bad move on. I would respect some one more if they wore an Obama 2012 shirt on this campus then these people. I may not like Obama but at least this person would be standing for something they believe in instead of standing up for something people agree with them on. It alot like wearing a shirt that says I Love God on this campus. Most people agree with that here.

red tape kids = different pro life movement. that's something that is not (overly) abrasive and divisive, and unbecoming of whom we represent, like the dead baby folks.

dead baby folks need to learn to love people before they tell them what to do. i could go on but there's no point...

Yeah, I've got no problem with the red tape because it's not shoving it down your throat or showing inappropriate pictures to small children. My girlfriend does it every year.
