You did notice I said " I don't mind walking far", right?

I just have this thing called a car. Or maybe I should hop on the norfolk southern train that heads from roanoke to somewhere near lynchburg.

My wife works at Liberty, so I wasn't sure if the bonus would be for her as well. Thanks for your help, I'll have her check.

Happens to the best of us! :D

LU takes the climate of the employees and most importantly the student body very seriously. As I mentioned in the parking thread they recognized that bringing in an outside firm to research current local/national salaries could be very beneficial. They have completed the research for one department already, and now it's on to the next one. The key point to all of this is Liberty is being more proactive than I've ever seen in all of my years of being around here, which is such a great feeling.

To Jerry Jr, job well done. Thanks and may God bless you and LU thru the years.

BTW I am not an employee of LU.

Thanks fsu. Faculty had to come first but we are finally now in a position to reward our staff for their loyalty, dedication and commitment through all the tough years! These are exciting days for Liberty.

My secretary LOVED her bonus check, and it came at the perfect time, with her daughter getting married next week.

Thank you, Chancellor, for sharing that. Well done, and the staff there definitely have earned what they received.

*Disclaimer, I'm not an LU employee*

This will be the nicest building we have on campus by a mile (and we have some REALLY nice buildings). The attention to detail is amazing.

I know I am getting older, looking at those photos just reminds me of my time on Treasure Island and how God has blessed LU to this day, brings tears to my eyes.

Had faculty recently gotten a raise, as well?

All the local naysayers won't think about it, but the majority of those earnings will get pumped right back into our local economy. Good for the staff and good for the city.

Actually, Dr. Borek and Dr. Rist identifed where faculty base pay should be about 9 years ago and implemented a plan to take their pay to that level phased in over 8 years. We just completed the eighth year of that plan last year. We have more work to do but faculty compensation is much closer to where it should be now.

I would imagine that getting staff pay up to a comparable level will not take a multi-year plan. Even with some low mutterings of discontent that we've seen posted here, LU is a different place than it was when Dr. Borek came. I believe that we are poised to weather the rough times that our economy will likely be experiencing in much better fashion than many of our neighboring state and private institutions that are not yet thinking "out of the box."

One of my favorite quotes from Dr. Borek was when someone was getting on him because our flag was a little worn...later on he said "when I got here we were worried about buying toilet paper and now we're worried about flags looking worn...we've come a long way."

I did find out that one of the best ways to talk to girls was to hang out in the commuter parking lot and act like I'm leaving
