Ok, time to rant... The whole NCAA, Professional sports crap that is going on is driving me crazy. Here we go -
Miami - Let it be. Are we going to dig into all the issues like this at every school and go back 20 years? It's a waste of time, money and life. The NCAA missed it - oh well. Let's try and implement a better, more realistic system. Shouldn't penalize the current players and the current coach, who are trying to run a clean, legitimate program.
Pay players - Come on here - you CANNOT pay players - that is completely out of the question. They get a free degree, the ability to be involved in something exciting, and some get access to great coaching to help them get to the next level. This discussion is ludicrous, because you would have to pay all teams, all genders - you do the math... (Not happening) Do I care if they get free tattoos, free meals and sell their stuff (as long as they have been given these items)? NO - so be it.
Colleges SHOULD increase their living expenses to the players across the board (players that are on full rides and not aloud to work) - I think there are some things that can't happen. I'm fine with the schools increasing the stipend they get for meals, entertainment, etc... As long as every school has the ability to give the same amount - go for it. Only gets this during season and then aloud to work during off-season.
Rules - The rules need to be fixed. There are way to many stupid rules right now when it comes to recruiting or coaching. If someone needs a ride - a coach should be able to do so. If he wants to take his team out to dinner - he should be able to do so. If a player needs some groceries to survive - a friend of the program should be able to give him some. If a kid is going to a particular college because they are getting $80 worth of groceries every week - more power to them, but they aren't. If the kids phone is getting blown up by coaches texting or calling - isn't it great to be loved... OR here's an idea - turn off your phone or let it be known that you will eliminate schools that contact you to much. Who cares how many times a coach comes and watches a kid play and talk with him just like a normal fan - Most would be eating that up.
Penalties - There will be colleges that break the rules and players that break the rules. If they catch them/him during his career - suspend him/dismiss him - whatever. If it's determined that it was serious enough - then fine the school? Money talks! Most the rule breakers make good money from Bowl games and Tournament games - take that money back. I guarantee the colleges would oversee their programs much tighter if they know it would affect their wallet.
Pryor - Give me a break. Just put him in the Supplemental Draft and why stop him from playing until week 6? HE SUCKS and won't play anyway. The whole argument that he should have been in the draft and he's being penalized for missing it - doesn't hold water - that is what the supplemental draft is all about... Why wouldn't all the players in it get suspended?
If the NCAA wants to dig into every college - they will find past issues at EVERY school.
