No sense coming up with a depth chart until the training camp portion of practice is over. There will be lots of fluid movement during that time, and as you've seen in the past at LU, maybe even another transfer pops in at the last minute. Everything will be more clear on Aug. 21.

I dont think its another hint as a suggestion to wait and see...and Lang's right...you can have quite a few things change even from week to week until the first day of classes (and hey, even on the last day of drop/add)

Anyone want to give us a revised depth chart for Defense? Capt. Smarty?
Agreed with Lang. Stuff will change every day pretty much from now until the end of camp.

No, Rooster, not a hint. I'm just thinking of the Eddie Pinigis situation. That came totally out of nowhere on the last day or two of training camp. Not saying it will happen, but I wouldn't be shocked if it did.

We could use another Eddie P right now. Yea, I get your point, I was just kidding. Even without another transfer, the depth chart is surely fluid right now.

Mike taking any snaps as a PR or WR? I would think its in the plans to showcase his talent there his senior year.

Im sure that is in the plans but it is only the second day of practice (and they wont even be in pads until next week). They just shifted a bunch of players to new positions so Im guessing that if there will be any significant action on MB taking snaps at WR it may be tonight, but Id guess that it wont be til next week. Im sure Chris can better answer that though since he will be around the team a lot more.

Looked like Asa was on the sidelines in practice. Hate to see him banged up. Anybody know how much practice time he'll miss?

I was at practice, too. Asa did ride the bike some and hit the blocking sled a few times, but he wasn't in "shells."

Libertyflames.com had a good article highlighting the outstanding participation level in voluntary workouts and highlighted the weight training program. However, it was a little short on stats. Anybody know if they release the numbers for weight lifting? It would be interesting to see the progress and compare the stats w other teams.

Be on the lookout this week for the first of FSN's position preview videos from football training camp 2011. First up, Nick Pierce will catch up with OC & QB coach Brandon Streeter to look at the quarterbacks. FSN will also have a video update from the first practice in full pads Monday. These videos will post to http://www.LibertyFlames.com this week.

Don't forget to follow FSN on twitter @luradiopxp for more info on training camp.

I'm hoping the plan is more geared towards making the playoffs than showcasing one players talents :D
They should be pretty solid at WR and PR this year. I wouldn't expect to see him at PR at all and very very little at WR. But, you never know what the coaches have in mind...

I agree with FC's point but it has been said that Mike's best chance at the next level would be at WR. I dont think the mindset of the coaches is to showcase Mike Brown, or Chris Summers or whoever, but if they can show his talents while still maintaining the many times stated goal to get to the playoffs this year, that can only benefit everyone. This is the first day in pads, but Im sure you wont see Mike or Tyler really getting pounded. I think they will slowly work in plays from the packages that have MB lined up at WR over these first couple weeks before classes start

Not really a precise stat but they have over 70 people clinging 300lbs+

kinda cool

Showcasing talent would be only a side benefit i agree. But Tyler B. at QB might be a very good option for us. I keep having flash backs to that Amazing day Mike had in Morgantown. (if they game planned for us.. it was to stop mike b)

Mike Browns Stats from the WV game.

BROWN, Mike 7(rushing) 157(receiving) 107(KR) 271 (all purpose)

I know we are all excited about the baseball stadium but what about the injuries to both Asa and Chris? Sounds like Asa is a bit more serious then Chris but we need these guys if we want NCState.

Medic, your services are needed: you can please get down here and work your Medic magic on Asa's knee? Smoothie/ATrain say there's a windbreaker in it for you, if can can.

I'm really concerned about Asa. Without him our DL becomes a big ? To beat State we need him. To win the conference championship we need him. Hope he heals quickly.

Sounds like the other injuries are minor. Hate to see Sigmo miss much time though especially if he's going to be our starting Mike.

Today's practice is noted as an offical/scrimmage opportunity according to the schedule. Anyone going to be around that can post some film if they scrrimmage??

Nick had on the Red "no contact" jersey for the afternoon practice. Don't know if it is more than minor or if they were just being real careful

It's the beginning of camp. If a player has even a hint of an injury, he's going to be sitting or in a red jersey. Most of these things are very minor and, if it were week six, we wouldn't hear anything about them because the guys would be practicing and dealing with it. It's August though. No use "toughing it out" right now.
