Bill's Pastry Shop has closed yet again. What is the deal with Lynchburg and donut shops? We just can't keep one. There are plenty of fat people. We need a Dunkin Donuts. But alas, that will die slowly too.

I'd recommend My Father's Table (bakery) in Forest on Route 221. It's only about a mile west of Sheets.

Apples to oranges...that was when DD was a floundering company that sold donuts. They are now a coffee shop that serves donuts and doing more business than they ever dreamed of. A complete redesign and strategy that saved their company and made it one of the leaders in the coffee industry.

It would do very well to say the least.

Looked into a DD franchise. You have to commit to opening 3 stores over a period of time, or at least it used to be that way. I agree a Dunkin Donuts would be a huge draw, I can't tell you how many LU students hit the one in Roanoke, and many make the trip just for that :)

It really does suck not having Dunkin' Donuts around the corner in Lynchburg. DD is an everyday part of life up here in MA. Heck one of the draws of our last move was having a Dunkin' Donuts legitimately 20 feet away from our apartment building haha Someone really needs to give it another try in the Burg

EC...if you went through with it, you could try the old Stikfire location on Wards Rd (Ive been thinking about what could go in there and maybe getting with somebody with a little more business sense than I have to try to make something happen)

That's one of the things that could be either a problem or an opportunity depending on how you look at it. The business concentrations in this area are so spread out, there's isn't really just one perfect spot for a Dunkin. There isn't that one place that will get you tons of traffic. On the other hand, La Carreta has used this to their advantage with their several locations. I just don't know if it could work for a coffee/donut shop in Lynchburg.

Things are just...different here, to say the least.

I think that there also used to be a DD on the corner of Oakley and Memorial, across from Food Lion. This was back in the late '70s , so I might be thinking of another donut franchise. Regarding Bill's, it is hard to maintain a business that has kept the same business model for the last 40 years. Keeping up with the times and continuing adapt is a big part of business success.
