This has generally been the most contested category on a yearly basis. Waterstone took the title in 2010 but not without strong challenges. Add in the new player Mario's and this could get interesting.

The atmosphere at Waterstone is hard to beat, but so is the Drew Brees pizza at Rivermont.

I agree. Our family prefers La Villa over the others

Sorry, but I've been eating Lil' Cucci's for well over ten years (before they came to Lynchburg), they're personal friends, and I just can't hardly bring myself to go anywhere else. On the rare occasion that I do eat pizza on the LU side of town, it's usually Ledo's and I just tried Vinny's and liked it. Ledo's is totally different style and taste, so I don't feel like I'm 'cheating' on Cucci's :) I know I need to try Waterstone, and I probably will one day, but I don't think anyone beats Maurizio for customer service and friendliness.

ECUnited -

I've tried Lil' Cucci's and they are good... just on the wrong side of town. I would much rather give money to places like La Villa or Lil' Cucci's. They're just good.

Love Cucci's, but love Waterstone a little better for variety. Ledo's was good until the second time I got a little black hair on my pizza. Once was a mistake, when it happened again - I knew I wouldn't go back.

I would have gone with Mario's on 460, but they closed!! I THINK they are teh same people who run Rivermont So that got my vote.
Ledo's is good. I should eat their more since a former LU Student of mine runs the joint!

I tried Jo Jo's Pizza on Lakeside across from LC yesterday. Mrs. Cider called it "creepy," and my chicken parm was like deep fried cardboard. We won't be back. Definitely a D3 pizza joint.

I don't get the love for Ledo's. Way too greasy. Crust tastes like sweet, chewy cardboard. I like some of their other stuff, like the toasted ravioli. But their pizza is some of the worst I've ever had.

I don't get why so many are in such love with Waterstone. I say it's OK on the pizza front. It is a cool place, but average in my book. I'm a huge Lil' Cuccis fan. They are great Christian people and the pizza is BY FAR the best in the area.

Lil' Cuccis and Waterstone make two different styles of pie so I can understand the people that like the thinner brick oven style picking Waterstone over Lil' Cuccis. What I don't get is how these people pick Waterstone over Rivermont, unless you have a thing against hippies in which case I understand

Thanks CHRIS and SLY. I will have to see what is up at The Plaza with Mario's. Their pizza is good, but their lasagna is out of this world!

Ok, I gave in and tried Waterstone this past Saturday and have to admit it was really good. I like the atmosphere of the place, and I love brick oven pizza. The best part is that it is so different from Lil' Cucci's that I can not feel guilty about occasionally visiting another pizza place. Definitely will go back, and yeah, my vote for overall best pizza isn't so clear anymore!

Just wanted to follow up and give credit where it's due, since I am such a Cucci's fan.
