Oh yea, another thing that royally hacked me off was the band playing Hey Baby with under a minute to go in the 4th quarter. Do they not realize we just lost the freaking game? I don't know which was worse, them playing it or students singing to it. Have some effing pride in your team.

Thanks for bringing this up. I would have liked to have heard the fight song at least ONCE during the game. I say keep the temp. seating at the end of the field and have the band sit there (a-la Notre Dame) so they could be heard by both sides of the stadium. Not to knock the band- they sounded great, but I would have liked to have heard them play after one of the touchdowns which both occured while they were out of their seats.

I understand everyone being upset, but folks, it is JUST A GAME. You guys that are raking on Ben are raking on one of your CLASSMATES. This is NOT the Christian love we are to exhibit. Don't you think Ben feels horrible enough as it is without an "off with your head" group on Facebook, or rants and raves here. I don't think ANY of you would enjoy seeing stuff on message boards about how much you lack at your job, or in the classroom, or whatever your activity is--especially from a group that should be "better than that."

Apart from special teams, we played well enough to win. Why couldn't Brock be put into the kicking mix...it doesn't mean he wouldn't still be able to be QB?

How about snapping the ball 8 or 9 yards back instead of 7. I don't know where I heard that, but I heard that some I-A school is doing it with sucess...if someone else remembers reading that they can tell who it is.

Don't take this the wrong way but I hate it for the Coach & new AD. This game was 100% better than any games last year atmosphere, better team, better facilities, better everythng. Everything they put into the program over the last year and we are sitting at 3-3 and could be 5-1 if we had a kicker or a WR that could catch(Towson Game)

Dr Kerr wanted to get everybody in the stands as quick as possible today for that reason. The band is not in teh stands for the 3rd Quarter so that we can get a break after performing halftime, see parents that came down, just relax, whatever. I mean if you have a problem with it, then take it up with our director. Otherwise, lay off it. We oughta be able to take a break and celebrate a good performance you know

First off, there was maybe 13,000 at the game. A lot of the Baptist side had big gaps.

The students were cheering their hearts out until the last field goal. We were even cheering pretty hard when Bill and Mary had the ball until they got that first down. After that the game was over.

There were gaps...but there were also a ton of alumni that sort of gather at the top and never sit down...I think there were probably around 14,000 and then they counted some people twice (I regersted as an alumni, but came with my season ticket).

As far as the band...We have an excellent band...probably one of the better corps style bands in the area. Dr. Kerr has done a great job. The people that were with me were impressed with the band.

The band is also more than about cheering, it is about recruiting for the entire music program. The professional level of the band will attract more people interested in majoring in music to LU.

MEAC and SWAC bands might have more fan based shows, but the technical corps style show I still say will attract more music majors to a program.

We've always taken the 3rd quarter off...even when I was at LU...and I also took the 3rd quarter off in HS...and the schools down here I believe take the 3rd quarter off.

As far as the fight song...if we score in the 3rd quarter...WHY CAN'T WE PLAY THE .MP3 of the fight song on the speakers?

I'm still happy with the progress of the band and the football team...when I was in the band at LU in '97 and '98...we had like 100 memebers in 97 and 55 memebers in '98. I'd say they have about 130 now, and sound and march better than we did.

As far as the football team...I think this team could take Rutigliano's '97 football team that went 9-2. We're heading in the right direction...let's not let a couple of missed FGs have us going crazy. I'm sad but happy.

We have a great band when they play. I know the band has second motives, but they also need to be respectful for the really reason 99.9% of the people are there and that's the game. You don't play a happy sing along song after it's clear we just lost.

It just peeved me off that they were like, "We lost, but here's a song from Dirty Dancing to make you feel better." I notice music at games. I've done music for baseball so it's something that I take note of wherever I'm at.

are you kidding me?? i know we are all upset,but let's stop the bickering!! here are the facts from the game IMHO:

1. we need a new kicker...period,and for nayone who wants to rub beasley's back and make him feel good, get over it. he is a college football payer who has not performed. this has nothing to do with being a "good christian"
2. rocco made some questionable play calls...i think he got a bit tight, if you know what i mean
3. though our defense gave up only 14 points, elijah miller was a workhorse and founds the holes in our defense
4. too many penalties
5. zach should be our QB. he moved the team down the field. brock has happy feet and will not throw a sharp pass, just throwing lob passes. ROCCO, GO WITH ONE QB. BOTH PLAYERS HAVE SAID JUST MAKE A DECISION.
6. though our band is good, you play in the 3rd quarter, that is what you are there for. i have never seen a band take the 3rd quarter off. if band memebers or band alumni read it and get mad...sorry, but it is what it is. and the musical selection at the ned of the game was weak. even if you are a band proponent, not the kind of song you play. I AM DONE WITH THE BAND! THIS IS FOOTBALL BABY!!!
7. the woulda, coulda, shouldas from W&M fan and our fans on the game out come?? the tribe was fortunate to win,and they know it. kudos on your victory. your QB made a horrible pass and threw a pick. yes your line made a good push on the block, but our kicker is just not good.
8. the crowd was fairly accurate. a lot of people standing and sitting on the banks. barber is very adamant about getting correct attendance and not guestimating like they used to.
9. bottom line we did not execute. is is time to panic? no. but we need a healthy rashad, settling on one QB, and a kicking game. Big South play is upon us. it is a new season, let's get ready for GWU!

Exactly. I don't know why people are SO reserved at LU games. I swear it's like they're afraid of getting reps for cheering too loudly (alumni included!).

I got reps at a basketball game one time freshmen year....me and like 3 others, I don't remember what we did, but I was mad...those were my wilder days...I think all the losing stole my spirit...freshmen year I was always so fired up....I tapped into that for the first time in a long time today and was disappointed...
