Of all the hibachi places, I've always liked Tokyo's the best, it just tastes a little better than everyone else's, and their yum-yum sauce is better than the others.

Edit: Actually, I have to clarify that. They are the best express hibachi. The best I've had in town is definitely Eastern Gourmet in Wyndhurst, but I consider that more of a sit-down restaurant.

I want to know how many have been to Thai 99. It is a GREAT restaurant, albeit on the spendy side. Having it in the same category with all these other dives is a disgrace.

It's a passable Thai restaurant. Nothing more. No way I'd call it great. I go out of my way to find good Thai places when I go on the road because Thai 99 is rather mediocre as far as good Thai places go. But I do sometimes need a red curry fix...

Where are all these good Thai restaurants? I lived in Olympia, WA where there were more Thai places than Starbucks, which is to say there were many. Thai 99 would be considered good, but certainly not "the best." They have good food, prepared with quality ingredients. I will admit that they are less exotic than my favorite Thai places. If you want to try something different, try PANANG or add Pineapple to your Red Curry.

I have not eaten at Milan. Is that the Indian joint behind Famous Anthony's? But of this list, it is ridiculous that these FAKE Japanese Teriyaki places with mystery meat are getting more votes than a good place like Thai 99. I wish there were a good Teriyaki joint. But there's not.

I went to a fantastic one in Louisville when the LU women were in the tournament up there. Tiny little place near UL. So good I went back a second time before leaving town. There are a few up in NoVa I like, and when I lived in Flagstaff, there were three pretty good choices in town. Also, found a great spot in Gastonia that I always stop at on trips to Gardner-Webb. I wish there was a second Thai place here, if only to give Thai 99 some competition to be better and provide a lower price option. You can't get out of there for less than $11 at lunch. I don't think Thai 99 is terrible, but it just doesn't stand out to me.

I've heard good things about the Indian joint. Need to check it out.

Osaka is the best of the bunch when it comes to the Teriyaki joints in town. I certainly wouldn't dub it the best asian cuisine out there though.

Ive been to Milan...they have a real good lunch buffet. It was actually my first taste of Indian food. The only other Indian restaurant I know of is Nawab back in Norfolk.

Maybe people just don't like Thai food. I've been there and didn't feel the need to make it a regular stop. And as for Milan's, no thanks. Both Milan's and Thai 99 are just too overpriced for the taste of the food.

In the tradition of the Old Testament Prophets...

For three reasons do I proclaim the Lynchburg Teriyaki joints I've visited "Fake," Yea, for four:

1. The quality of the meat.
2. The nationality of the owners.
3. "Yum Yum" sauce.
4. The lack of a line out the door

Bonus reason: Health inspections.

Of course, much of my comments are partially in jest. However, I am used to Teriyaki places which are CLEAN, Good quality food, good value, packed with people at all times of the day, which are operated by Japanese immigrants. I do not know of any places in Lynchburg which meet even half of these requirements. I am interested in learning more about Eastern Gourmet. Thanks for the recommendation.

As someone who works with the area Indian population I voted Milan. I have been told it is the best between DC and Greensboro and better then anyone in Richmond! I vote for the Chicken Tiki Masala with Nan and a Mango Lasse
