"I like Ron Paul. I do not like SOME of his followers."
#350024

ya more politics at Liberty :pbjtime

can't wait until it's election year.
"Since Liberty is the world's largest Christian university, we think it is important to expose the students to as many candidates as possible," Falwell said.
wonder what Democrat candidates he's gonna invite

Lib always does do a nice job of getting in some big wigs of the republican party. What other school has so many presidential canidates on campus regularly? I don't know if most students realize how rare of an opportunity they are given by having these people come and speak.

I hope they continue to invite the other side as well (I know they don't come but if you stop inviting them they never will).

Last cycle they invited every presidential candidate...naturally the dems all declined. I don't mind them bringing in political figures but would much prefer that the admin refrain from endorsing anyone. Honestly I can't blam the dems for not showing as they would get booed the whole time

Officially the administration has never endorsed anyone. However, a private figure can endorse whoever he wants to as a private figure. I have no problem with Jerry Jr. saying he, personally, endorses so and so or likes so and so or wants so and so to win.

I understand what you're saying but I disagree. It's all about perception and you can't do one without the other. It's a negative to beging a public figure. I'm not saying they can't endorse someone. I just wish they wouldn't.

At least it's Bachmann, not Newt or Momney...

Cause that's the way it's been the past...

ballah09, there will be only one serious Democratic candidate--President Obama. If I remember correctly, LU invited him last time and he sent Gov. Tim Kaine as a surrogate. Wonder who he will send this time? Maybe Hillary?

We've had liberals speak, and, no, they don't get booed the whole time like conservative speakers do at many universities.

Individuals do not lose their right to free speech just because they are prominent figures. I don't think endorsements should be made in official meetings of nonprofit organizations, e.g., convo and church services, but leaders should be free to endorse whomever they choose when they aren't "on the clock."

Ron Paul can win the nomination If he has a surprise win on Saturday, says John Thorpe at Benzinga.
Ron Paul Moving Closer to GOP Nomination

Forget Mitt "The Stormin' Mormon" Romney and Michelle "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann. If Ron Paul pulls off a win in Saturday's Ames, Iowa Straw Poll, all bets are off.

Current Iowa polling suggests Ron Paul just might pull off a surprise win, first at the Straw Poll and then second in the Iowa caucuses. As of today, Ron Paul polls in third place in Iowa, with 16 percent of the vote. He only trails Bachmann (22%) and Romney (21%), and trounces all the other declared candidates.

Ron Paul's path to the nomination:
  • Do well in Thursday's debate
Win the Iowa Straw Poll Saturday
Move to first or second in the Iowa Caucus polling
By February, emerge from Iowa in the top two (at the least, third place)
Finish in the top two in New Hampshire (Must finish ahead of Bachmann)
From there, it'd be a race he can win!

If he can buy off votes in the Straw Poll, he can win, just like other candidates do. He'll never finish in the top 2 in NH, so that can be crossed off the list too.
