That, and if we get our butts handed to us, I can sneak into the parking lot without being harassed.

Just to stave off the flaming I would have received from a few of you, I don't think that is going to happen.

Im not worried about us "getting our butts handed to us". we have played a I-A/FBS school 4 times since Danny Rocco became head coach (2006, 2007, 2009, 2010) of those 4 times, only once have we lost by more than 14 points (2006). LU has always played tough with the I-A/FBS schools tough UNDER COACH ROCCO and this Im sure will be no exception

(That part in all caps is for you Cider)

Ken Karcher called and wants you check the media guide when he coached LU against the I-A schools, sometimes two in the same season. And it was ugly--blow outs by like 50-60 points.

If we do get a good following at the game it won't matter what color we wear. We don't have to wear something other than red. Heck we always say "Be Early. Be Loud. Wear RED." I intend to do just that haha

Sigh...fine...I'll fix it even though if you had noted my contexxt youd have seen that I was referring to games under Danny Rocco...

I would be the first to enroll in a class co-taught by BJ and Cider on the History of Flames Athletics. Tell me where I sign up.

Interesting read .... NC State's new student ticking policy:

http://athleticbusiness.com/editors/blo ... ent-Ticket
The no-show policy also has been revamped for the coming academic year. In the past, students were deducted one loyalty point for showing up to a game after halftime.
Sounds like like us in reverse ... :D. LU would have to do it for "leaving" early. Campus needs to start a student challenge for 2011. Be the 12th man for 60 mins :!:

Fig, there is a pre-class assigment. You'll need to research the following terms/initials:

1.Curse of Morgan Hout
2. RD
3. MR
4. KK (extra credit if you get all 3 KKs)
5. E-T-S-U
6. History of HC candidates at PC
7. original LBC school colors

I definitely missed 3 and 6, but I think I got extra credit on 4. That would give me a score of 86%, a "B." Am I right, Sensei Cider? (Also, you should consider giving me additional extra credit for reading the entire Liberty Couples thread!) BRING IT ON, BEEJ! I'M READY FOR YOUR PRE-COURSE ASSIGNMENTS!

1. Morgan Hout was head football coach at Liberty 1984-1988. His only winning year was his last. The curse is said to have begun in 1985 when the last two games were forfeited because all the equipment was washed away by the flooding of Treasure Island. The curse may also have caused Dr. Falwell to retain subsequent coaches longer than he might normally have done because he didn’t want to appear trigger happy with his coaches after having released Hout as he did.
2. It’s been said that “no other name on this board can ignite a fire like RD,” RANDY DUNTON. He was interim head men’s basketball coach 1997-1998 at which time his team defeated UVa, his claim to fame. He was invited back in 2002. In 2004 his team won Big South championship and an NCAA tournament. Subsequent years were not as successful, so his contract was not renewed in 2007.
3. I have no clue to whom or what MR refers. :dontgetit
4. Kyle B. Kallander has been the commissioner of the Big South Conference for over 15 years. Poor guy doesn’t seem to be thought of very highly on FF. He is seen as not being proactive, not being the “sharpest knife in the drawer,” never making any sense, being a joke, etc. (One of the other KKs is Kevin Keys, Associate Athletics Director for External Operations. I have no clue who the other KK is.)
5. The ETSU dunk was when Tim Scarborough (better known as SCAR) dunked the ball against East Tennessee State University.
6. I believe PC refers to Presbyterian College, but I’m lost as to what HC Candidates are. Sorry :(
7. Green and gold were the original LBC school colors!

To answer #6, yours truly actually submitted a resume for the Presbyterian HC position but I was respectfully not asked for an interview...the running gag around here is that my "agent" HMO adds just about anything that he can to my resume, such that if he actually had a resume for me itd probably be two or three pages long...although Ive asked him to stop doing that (and in case I havent, please stop...)

Can someone explain to me why this happened? I'm sure it's already been discussed, but I've forgotten and couldn't find it doing a quick search. I understood he was looking at playing baseball full-time, but why is he transferring to play football? Did NCSU not want him back?

Actually it is nothing like Brett Favre. NCSU's coach is a tough guy and general control freak. Wilson has a baseball contract to play summers. He also graduated in 4 years and can play right away. Coach O'brien cited not being at Summer "voluntary workouts" as the reason. He is now the least popular guy in Raleigh. The real reasons are much different.
He made a choice and so did Wilson. The Badgers needed him and have a better team and much better atmosphere. Rose Bowl, Rose Bowl.

Fig, I'm impressed! You've done your research!! This is a good start, but you can do even better.

For example, if you look at the top entry on this page of the thread, you can find a third KK.

For MR, you need to research the LU baseball page on Flame Fans (he's the baseball version of RD).

HC stands for Head Coach, a position that BJ "almost" got at Presby thanks to his agent, HMO.

Regarding the "curse", it also has to do with the award Hout earned the week before he was released, and how the team has struggled years later with 2 other HCs before Rocco. In fact, Hout was invited back to Lynchburg last fall for the "home game" at City Stadium, but maybe his curse will still be there until LU finally makes the playoffs.

For #5, this very dunk is available on YouTube:

Regarding #7, do you know WHY our original colors were green and gold? (critical thinking required)

Two new extra credit history questions, Fig:
1. What does "SC" stand for in the history of LU athletics?
2. What former LU nemesis was often referred to as "purple face"?

Nice to see you back, Olldflame. You had been gone so long, I even started a thread about you, since you seemed to be MIA. Are you retired and living out your golden years in the DR?

http://www.flamefans.com/forums/viewtop ... 15&t=17612

As to my "softballs," yes, they would be to us, but Figure is not a sports guy, so I was trying to build up his confidence with some underhand tosses, so that he could learn about the history of LU athletics--SC and GM are certainly two people about whom Flame Fans have strong opinions.

Two old Flame Fans posters, BrysOn and JDUB, are opening up a Purple Penguin frozen yogurt shop in Graham, NC in July, and they welcome any Flame Fans to stop by for some frozen yogurt before or after the game (think Sweet Frog, minus the franchise name).
