People get in trouble for what they say on FlameFans. The only reps I got while attending Liberty were because of what I said on here. The deans wanted me to give up the professors and faculty members that posted on here but I wouldn't do it.

While working for the athletic department I was called into my boss' office on multiple occasions for things I had said on FlameFans or on Twitter that got back to him. One was as innocent as saying, "Things in the office are a little crazy today" while everyone was freaking out over Rocco leaving. The tweet had nothing to do with Rocco leaving but someone perceived it that way and I was told to watch what I say.

The higher ups at Liberty read FlameFans. Every single one of them from the chancellor to the athletic director to the heads of departments either read this board themselves or have someone that reads it for them and reports to them. If you don't believe that then you really have no clue about how well-known this message board is.

to add another example...I was called into the dean's office and had my room searched for something I said on here...which was swiftly deleted afterwards

SJ and BJ, of course, you are going to get in trouble for violating the Liberty Way while a student and admitting it on any public message board. Lots of students get in trouble for posting their parties on Facebook. DUH. We are talking about former students voicing their opinions or making claims to a newspaper reporter anonymously. How is anyone at LU going to retaliate against them or against FF members who don't work at LU? Give me a break. Employees at Liberty who are afraid to speak their minds to their bosses are another matter. Of course, they should be afraid to complain publicly about things that they should keep in the chain of command. What company wouldn't punish such cowardly behavior?

Also, SJ, it is very unprofessional to comment about what happened when you were employed by Athletics. Those kind of posts could impact your future employability (if that is a word) elsewhere. What company would want to hire somebody who posts company procedures on the internet later? Gheesh.

I never violated the Liberty Way. That's the thing.

And there is absolutely nothing wrong with publicly stating that a university monitors what their employees saying publicly on the internet. That's standard procedure at most places.

I didnt either. Now was what I said dangerous? Potentially...but just like Jon's case, the Liberty Way wasnt violated. The dean talked to me, I explained my side, they searched my room, only found a whole bunch of nerf blasters, told me to be careful what I say and that was the end of it.

Yes? If you did not notice, JDUB is laughing at your statement. You should be used to that.

back2back,

It's easy to laugh but, apparently, not so easy to give real life examples of the retaliation with names, dates, etc. I'm still waiting for those and I suspect I'll be waiting a long time!

How in the world did I just find this thread....and Beej how in the world are you trying to justify what you said? It's best not to speak, what you said was awful and shouldnt even be brought up again...let alone justified, I dont care what they found.

September of 2010. I was called into a certain Dean's office because of comments that were made on here. A poster by the name of ValuesVoter reported me to this dean because they didnt want to do the Christian thing and talk to me on their own. I was making comments outside of Liberty and was referring to their personal business venture and called them out for "fear-mongering" by their statement in an e-mail that was sent to every LU student that "if DADT was repealed, then there would be a draft."

I only brought it up to make the point (along with Jon) that people in the school DO read this board and that there can be consequences for what can be said here

You are kidding, right? What fact? You were called in? By a dean? I thought we were talking about Godwin retaliating against employees or students. The DADT thing was not even an e mail that LU sent out. Were you punished? Did you receive reprimands? Get real!

back2back, now you are really making a fool out of yourself. You are upset because a poster reported you because they didn't want to do the Christian thing and talk to you on their own? So, you are saying that gossiping about someone on a board like this is the Christian thing to do? Why didn't you go to the person who send the DADT e mail personally? You should have been called in if you ask me.

So, I give you an example and you wont acknowledge you were wrong about those things happen. Sounds about right. Why should I have been called in by a dean about something that wasn't related to Liberty? Care to explain how you came to that conclusion? I did tell the group that sent that e-mail out that they were using fear mongering. Also, re-reading that thread I noticed one poster was fired out of retaliation by a dean.....You are really just posting nonsense now
