I saw them over there. It depresses me knowing how flippantly they'll tear up a nice lawn like that intermural field. Not because I care too much about the environment but my yard is such a mess I would kill to have grass like that.

A double-sided press box will be positioned between the two fields.
Somebody was thinking: I really like that idea! :clapping

so what about the nice intramural fields there? are they going to be replaced? IMS needs fields. what happened to that whole ultimate LU thing where they touted all their intramural opportunities? seems like less of a priority at the moment. sad day. we need places to play ultimate frisbee!

hopefully they just plow on the south side and replace the fields that they're destroying.

although the space saving double pressbox sure sounds nifty.

Spray beer on it, trust me. And if its sod with underlying clay, leave some clover in there so it can nitrogen from the atmosphere. Grass can't actually pull it out of the air.

It's an acre of rocks, clay and patches of grass. I'd need a lot of beer. And a bulldozer.

And they're making new fields for intermurals. Chill.

Ha, call Medic.
the funniest part is I didnt bother to keep reading after LUCONN and hadnt even seen this until after I posted. The bells and whistles going off were too loud.

Can someone do that?

No working scanner on the Cider Ranch, but I can give you some of my favorite quotes from the program about our campus IN THE FUTURE:
I--These lawns running perpendicular to each other behind [DeMoss] will provide plenty of open space...each lawn will be equal in size to the lawn at the Rotunda at the University of Virginia.

E--The new freestanding library...will overlook a new lake behind the Vines Center.

A--A rooftop patio will be added to DeMoss.

H--The restructured residence hall circle will feature four-story or taller residence halls built around a residential lawn that can also serve as intramual fields.

B--Three-story structures...These buildings will likely house the School of Business and the School of Education [just behind DeMoss].

C--The new academic structure near the existing...Dining Hall will likely house the university's new School of Health Sciences.

G--The group of academic buildings will likely house the new School of Communication and/or another school, yet to be determined.

F--two or three practice basketball courts...It will feature a rooftop lawn that will allow students to walk from the DeMoss area to the new residential lawn.

Thumbs up to all of the lawn talk. It's about time we started making this campus look less like a giant parking lot. Good idea with the patio on top of Demoss too. Students were getting up there anyway  .

I wish they demolished the circle this summer. I would absolutely love to say that i was among the last of a 8- 10 year tradition of one continuous leadership group being passed down from year to year on dorm 7-2, until this year when my hall got split up all over the place. (not saying the dispersion didnt split up 7, but the RA's were those who had lived on the hall previously and kept it alive.)

I wish i was a freshman right now instead of a rising senior with all this development. this looks absolutely amazing, and almost unrecognizable from what we have now. when i saw that slide in convo my gut reaction was "do we really need a lake in the middle of campus? either way this stuff is going to be absolutely amazing.

also, it looks like the rot parking lots are going away. where are those spots going to be put now? the keyhole and all the circle spots are also disappearing. where are all those spots going?

one other thing. im sure its not in the picture because the council loves dragging its feet on plans, but what about the wards road pedestrian bridge? i thought that was going to connect where the lake is shown in the picture?

I don't want to be negative, because that looks amazing, but how for sure is this plan? Will this change a whole lot and take 20 years to accomplish and change 50 times in the process?? OR is this pretty much set in stone and already beginning?

If you know a lot of the regulars on this board JKill you know that we have heard a lot of things and seen many of them change along the way...the chancellor would Im sure like to weigh in here but there was commencement this past weekend (where his son was one of the over 5,000 participating graduates) and Im sure he has plenty to catch up on at this point as a result but Im sure when he gets a chance he'll have a few things to say about what is planned for the school
