that second part was also related to the RD bashing issue...apologies if I didnt make that clear. I understand that this is a message board and that youre going to have varying opinions on pretty much everything...but I think in that area (RD), its the only time Id advocate that sort of action because like I said, whenever he comes up, things degenerate very quickly and frankly the only way that either side will ever be able to move on is if that sort of thing is done

I'm away from the board for a week in Canada and we dogpile on a longtime poster who has never been anything but respectful? Come on, guys. No matter how you feel about Coach Dunton's tenure, grm deserves to be cut some slack. He has been open about his friendship with Coach Dunton and supportive of everyone who has filled the position since his departure.

Since Coach Dunton is a Maine native, I would imagine the gig in Orono would be very attractive to him. I wish him nothing but the best in his pursuit of that position.

I dont want to pile on him Sly (and neither does jc), I just think that all these discussions really dont serve much of a purpose other than to open old wounds. If we are going to move on then MOVE ON...every time somebody starts something it inevitably turns into another round of trench warfare which really doesnt benefit either side

I didn't mean to "pile on" grm, and I apologize if it came across that away. I do agree grm is an asset to the ff community.

Unlike RD, this president lived before online message boards:
"You won't have Nixon to kick around anymore, because, gentlemen, this is my last press conference" (Richard M. Nixon).

Coach Dunton is not out of bounds as a topic. But this thread was appearing to turn personal between posters. As long as we focus on the topic at hand then I think we can have dialogue.

Darn....I thought Reeves was the antichrist to y'all, not Dunton. Wow.

Word around G-W is that Reeves is Maine's #1 choice, and he will take the job if offered early in the week.

I can't see why Reeves WOULDN'T take the job. That is why I posted it as a negative double. I don't think Reeves was ever vilified here. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

He hasnt been villified per se...I mean there have been some less than stellar things said about some interactions when LU and G-W have met on the court, but Im pretty sure he isnt a pariah in these parts

BJ, I know you've been at LU for a long time, but you weren't here when Reeves was coaching here, were you?

I had his daughter in class the year that Reeves resigned. He was winning many more games than our men's team was under Hanky. And going to Southern Miss was definitely a step up from the Big South Conference.

I thought Coach Reeves handled a tough situation with a lot of class. What may or may not have happened one game is not indicative of the entire situation.
Of course, I am fairly certain that beating LU in the championship game was a little sweeter than most wins. :D

Richard Barron from NCSU was named women's head BB coach at U of Maine.

I was kind of shocked to read about the resignation of Coach Larry at ODU. ODU is such an established women's program, would they look at Reeves or Green as candidates? :?

You'd have a real uphill battle working with the athletic administration there. Coach Larry (from what I read and from what I cab gather having grown up in that area) has not had the kind of resources (especially from the new AD) that she would need to be able to recruit as actively as she did back in the days when ODU pretty much rolled everybody in the CAA and she had players come through like Lucienne Berthieu, Ticha Penicheiro, Hamchetou Maiga, Clarisse Machanguana, Nyree Roberts or any number of others I could come up with...anyone who comes in is going to have some unbelievably lofty standards to live up to, even someone of Coach Green or Coach Reeves' caliber
