Since wrestling will be come a club sport, will this forum be closed and any future posting about wrestling be done in the general sports forum?

I imagine so, after the dust settles.

That would be up to the powers that be though...

I think we should have a club sports forum with all of the club things in there. Or they can all go in the general forum. Wrestling and hockey don't need their own forum when tennis and golf don't even get their own and they're NCAA sports. There's no need to clutter up the board with extra forums that barely get any action.

Softball, soccer, T&F should all go into "Other Sports" along with golf, tennis, and all other NCAA sports.

Then club sports can go in another forum including debate, quiz bowl, etc.

I don't like having so many forums. I think football, basketball, women's bball and baseball are the only sports that deserve their own forum. JMHO

Don’t forget gender equity. Since the student body has more women than men, you need more boards for the girls. How about Softball, Field hockey, and Volleyball for the girls and Football, Basketball for the guys?

How about no. We don't have to comply with title IX

No Aaron, you fail to realize everybody agrees with you on Title 9, but disagrees with almost everything else you've said.

Privately run message boards do not have to be gender equitable...this is about as crass as I'll get but did you shut your brain off before you made that statement Aaron? I mean seriously...did you not for a moment think "Hmm...maybe this sounds positively ludicrous to suggest that the board should have gender equality too...I mean it is an athletics board and all" FlameFans has never been a part of the Athletic Department of Liberty University and as such isnt subject to government regulation...now THAT would be a severe waste of taxpayers money (and they already waste plenty of it as is)

He was being sarcastic. Basically his point, the same one he has had for 4 weeks now, is that if you feel that wrestling had to be cut, than that means you love Title IX.

As it has been pointed out a couple of times…yes, I was being sarcastic. But, and I am being serious now, If the federal government can require that your private donation to a private male team be given equally to a girls team, what IS next? You know, even at the state schools, no public money is used for sports-ALL private donations.

So I guess I have begun to question my sarcasim…will there eventually be a quota on the internet? I am sure you have heard about the “Fairness Doctrine” on the radio. Will it eventually advance to the internet? Who knows?

2 issues:

1) Not everyone on this board agrees with me on Title IX. If you hadn’t noticed, Haize has mysteriously vanished after you first mentioned that you agreed with me on this issue. I still firmly believe there are “lurkers” on this board that think that Title IX must be a good law because, after all, who doesn’t want to be fair to the girls?

2) Please, debate me with specific examples that you disagree with me on. I know you have a problem with what some of the others have said about Barber but I have been silent on this issue. My positions all along have been that Title IX is broken and Liberty, along with its alumni, should stand up and fight it. By the way, I might be making some headway…we’ll see.

Haize has been on this board for almost 5 years with almost 2 thousand posts. To call him a "lurker" is incredibly ignorant. Believe it or not, there were many other conversations on this board before you joined it. The whole reason your attempt of "revealing" posters and bringing up conspiracies has been laughed at is due to the fact that most posters know that this isn't the case at all. It only makes you seem paranoid. /rant

Because HAIZE's job requires a lot of traveling at the moment? I was in the Triangle last week, in INDY for 2 weeks then Dallas for a week. Soo it really has nothing to do with who agrees with what. ANd considering you have never clearly articulated my stance on Title IX it does not suprise me that you jump to unsubstantiated conclusions

You need to re-read my post…I never suggested HAIZE was a lurker. Clearly, it is very easy to search everyone’s post on this board-I obviously know he has been an active member of this board probably not too long after he left his position in our athletic department.

Aaron, I'm seriously on the borderline of snapping, so this will probably be my final post in this forum.

JUST BECAUSE SOMEBODY DISAGREES WITH YOU DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE PART OF THE ATHLETIC DEPT!!! AND JUST BECAUSE THEY DISAGREE WITH YOU DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE ARE IN THE WHOLE CONSPIRACY TO ELIMINATE WRESTLING!!!!

And sorry, my Cap Locks button got stuck.

I was hoping you could come on here and be rational. Apparently, disagreeing in good faith is something that you don't seem to comprehend.

Ok, let me try. Is this your position?

Scenario: I, being a father of a high school son who plays football, want to donate the money to build a weight room and purchase the weights so he and his football teammates can lift after school. I desire to share my gift with the girls but I have one simple request that they must allow my son and his buddies to use it first and then they are more than welcome to use the equipment (as long as they take care of it).

If I understand your position correctly, you are advocating that it is against federal law for me to make such a stipulation on my private donation. Is this correct?

Sorry if I was giving that impression. One person has admitted to working in the department and I am under the impression that Haize was once an assistant AD. I would like to know if he truly was in the department but he doesn’t seem to want to identify himself. As I said earlier, being an alumnus and financial contributor to the athletic department, I am just curious if any of you guys are currently working or have in the past worked with the athletes. I am not really sure why you think this is a conspiracy theory. I really didn’t think it was that big of a deal “outing” people on this forum.

But if they wish not to "out" themselves, than why is it any of your business who they are? I know I'm not going to tell some random person who I am.

Aaron- I would like to know if you are now or ever have been a member of the communist party? Also, have you stopped sacrificing puppies to the earth god Gaia? I would like to know what my bonus will be at the end of the month. The bottom line is that there are things we don't NEED to know to do our jobs or advocate our position. I believe you said you work construction. That has absolutely NO bearing on this discussion, yet was something you chose to share. Bully for you. But what if I actually DID work for an athletic department? What if it was NC State where they 'saved' wrestling? Would that change your peceptions of my Title IX comments? What if I worked for Mary Baldwin? Would THAT change your perception? What if my name was actually an anagram for Jeff Barber? Or what if I was simply a fry cook at McDonalds? Again, what you do makes no difference on a board. Only the strength or weakness of your arguments.
If you want to know about me then take some time from your wrestling pity party, re read my posts and you will find more information then you need to know about me ranging from my Title IX views, Ranch Road BBQ and why I think Glen Kaiser is the most underrated rock singer in history.
