4/5 may not be good for Liberty considering that we go against the flow of what many believe to be science (i.e. evolution and the theory that the universe is billions of years old), but a real estate degree, or concentration in business if its not already offered, may be a good idea:

I wish I had pursued meteorology. It was always a dream of mine but I shyed away due to my dislike of science classes thru my early schooling.

I love weather, I'm a weather nerd, but just never wanted to be on TV.

To be honest, weather can be mostly predictable with the computer models these days.

The best meteorology jobs aren't on television. But frankly, it is such a small field that i don't see the upside to adding the degree. Anyone can get a degree online through Mississippi State (where 90% of all TV weathercasters gain their "degrees").

Forgive me for sounding cynical, but Real Estate? Come on. Perhaps a focus on commercial real estate might be worthy of a degree. But even that is a stretch. A standard business degree is more than adequate.

The other three science majors are smart picks. The best jobs for the next 20 years are primarily tied to science & engineering outside of entrepreneurial pursuits.

A friend of mine who is program director for a radio station in Madison Heights is actually studying meteorology (or something like that) over at Lynchburg College. He and a couple other guys put out daily forecasts through their facebook group

I thought about going to NC State to go to weather school, but I decided to stick with History/Teaching instead.

Interestingly enough I actually considered going to Penn State for their photography program (my dad paid his way through Harvard as a professional photographer) when I was looking at undergrad schools but my parents put the brakes on that because they said that they wouldnt pay for me to go to school out of state...

I know it's random but in Virginia right now you can get in-state tuition if you go to weather school (maryland, NC state for example) because no school in Virginia currently offers it (or that time they didn't).

real estate is a complete waste, even commercial real estate. Most if not all banks are drastically scaling back there real estate finance departments and are not lending and have no plans to do so. For instance a friend who works at Suntrust said that they scaled there department back from 20 or so to less than 5. Sounds like a solid field to get into.

Don't be overly skeptical of the real estate degree. Most major corporations need real estate people to manage their properties, and construction and development companies can't do their work without them. I don't know, but I doubt this is about preparing you for your Realtor license exam.

Yeah, I'm guessing none of you have taken the Real Estate class at LU. It's not about buying and selling houses. I would imagine an entire major would involve very little of being a real estate agent.
