Well with only three games left in the month of January I thought it was a perfect time to bring this topic up.

All of the three games will be played at the "Furnace."

20th Thursday - VMI
27th Thursday - UNCA
29th Saturday - Gardner Webb

If Liberty can win all three games we will be 10-1 and hopefully be close to 150 RPI.

We will be hosting the Bracketbuster game so I am hoping to get a good team in the furnace.

When do they announce these matchups? After that GMU game, a bracketbuster game just seems like it's in the way of what we're trying to accomplish this year.

Jan. 31.

I'm guessing Liberty draws either App State, Morehead State, Austin Peay or Hofstra.

Hopefully this game will be on "the family of networks." (Even though we don't do well on ESPN games) I'm bringing up some students who want to be future LUnatics. They're already talking about how to do their face paint colors. I may do it with them for old-times sake. Any idea of what time this game may would start?

You'll have to wait until the games are announced. All start times are dependent on TV.

We have sucessfully completed phase 1 by beating VMI. We now have 2 more games left before Bracketbuster match ups are announced. My hope is that by tomorrow morning I will see Liberty's RPI move up to around 150 as we are currently sitting at 159.

20th Thursday - VMI - Win
27th Thursday - UNCA
29th Saturday - Gardner Webb

LUconn I don't believe this is much of a problem as everyone in the Big South is playing a Bracketbuster game with the exception of Coastal Carolina who has scheduled an OOC game against North Carolina Central for that same weekend.

I found this spreadsheet which does a great job of aligning the home and away teams in terms of RPI from best to last. It helps with trying to figure out who we may be playing. Remember that the top 11 games get televised. Though it is not likely we will get into one of those TV spots we can certainly increase our chances with a couple of wins.

I hope they wouldn't play two teams from the same conference against each other... I think there is more that goes into it.

No, 2 teams from the same conference will not play each other. It's also highly unlikely that 2 teams who played already this year will be paired as well (ie Hampton and LU).

I'm hoping we can pull Delaware.

Blue Hens in Lynchburg? Interesting, and we aren't talking football.

Looks like we'll go to UT-Martin or Tenn Tech to avoid a rematch against WCU or W&M. That is of course, if they try to keep teams within decent geographic boundaries.

I noticed that as well when I saw the spreadsheet...Id be interested to play Northern Colorado...we actually played them a few years ago if memory serves me correctly

The Delaware game would be cool! They are pretty good this year although Mason went up there and beat them by 20 the other night. Monte' Ross is their coach and he and I grew up together in Philly. I would love to call that game. If ESPN doesn't take the rights to the game we will be broadcasting it on the Flames Sports Network on TV.

How big a deal has geography played in the past when doing these match ups? We would have to move a few spots if geography is weighted heavily in the decision. Especially when trying to find other regional teams not from the same conference.

I would be happy to play any team from a conference with an RPI higher than ours, Ohio Valley, Colonial, Missouri Valley. Something like that. It will help us down the road with post season seedings if we get that far.

I will be rooting for everyone in our conference to win these match-ups.

So predictions anyone? Morehead State, Austin Peay or Hofstra(three of Lang's four) still look like possibilities. I'd add the discussed Deleware along with Ball State.

Hofstra would be awesome. They're in first place in the CAA right now. I don't want to play anyone from the MAC. The MAC is weak.

Yeah Hofstra would be awesome they are the highest RPI right now (and in reality a long shot for us) But if we win the two this weekend and move up a little in RPI who knows...it could happen. Iona is right there with them (in both RPI and location) however they will probably get to play one of the Colonial's ahead of us.

Hofstra plays VCU tonight on ESPNU. Hopefully they lose which will knock them down some in the RPI. I still think they are too high for us to get them, but you never know.

Man I want to go to that Hofstra/VCU game so badly! Jenkins from Hofstra is the truth. He is one of the best guards in the nation. But I have a prior engagement in Lynchburg! Oh well. I can't even TIVO the Hofstra/VCU game because Thursday is a big night on both my HD TIVO boxes. Bummer. I don't think we want to play Hofstra in the Bracketbuster. They are really really good. Mason, VCU, Hofstra, ODU can put a whippin on you really fast! Truthfully Delaware is good enough to scare me too. Not that the Flames can't play with anyone on a given night though. I think the Mason game earlier was an anamoly. I don't see them destroying Liberty again like that if they played again the way the Flames have improved.

I'll have a pretty detailed breakdown of the BracketBusters possibilities in the pre-game blog, which should be up by around 6 p.m.

Forget that, let's play Indiana University-Purdue University Indiananpolis! Either that or Colorado School of the Mines (a D2).

Don't hate on the Panthers. Or Colorado School of the Mines! I considered going to both of those schools.
