Sorry if this comes across as a nitpick, but I felt like I should address this since it speaks to a mindset that I believe is dividing people in this country and this thread isn't quite interesting enough yet

The point is made that opposing war is not "liberal" because that is the position that some Christians take. The assumption here is that, by definition, a position cannot be liberal if it is also one held by Christians using Biblical support. I won't argue whether opposing war is liberal or conservative. I submit that even if it were liberal, that is no good reason why a Christian should not oppose war.

Christianity was not made to fit within one sector of the modern political spectrum. "Christian" is not synonymous with "conservative" any more than "conservative" is synonymous with "correct." The Bible can be used to support a wide range of views which could be considered liberal or conservative. Instead of worrying about the political label associated with the idea, a Christian should follow what they believe God is revealing to them through His Word rather than being concerned with the man-made category that revelation falls into.

well some people do try and put God on one side of the isle.....but it makes things inconsistent.

some argue " the government should use biblical standards for social behavior and activities".....in the same breadth those same people "the government should not monitor the amount of pollution a company puts into the atmosphere."

and no, I dont advocate the government getting involved in any of this, but am just providing an example.

Go to 3.3 and Phelps did run as a Dem. However, he has opposed Al Gore, Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. No mention on supporting homosexuality, did oppose the Iraq war b/c Iraq "was the only Muslim state that allowed the gosepl of Jesus Christ to be preached on the streets," and even went there on a trip approved by Saddam Hussein opposing Bill and Hillary Clinton, among other things.

Also, just b/c someone is a Dem doesn't make them pro-homosexual, just as being a Republican doesn't make you pro-life. I have seen articles where Kirk and Madsen published the "gay agenda," (which includes portraying gays as victims, i.e. Westboro protests) but nothing that directly links them to supporting Phelps (only looked at the first page of Google search: Kirk Madsen Fred Phelps).

On the other hand, I've tried to make legitimate edits in the past and I've found that there seems to be people who feel that they own a particular topic and they have the final say. If you don't devote a ton of time and energy into the "debate" the disputed info remains. And ultimately the other person is always more persistent that you. So while I trust what I read on there, I definitely can see an agenda easily being pushed.

I don't believe the WBC is part of some "vast left-wing conspiracy" by the Democrats. And even if they were, so what? If they were conservatives I'd still hate them. That's just what America's become... pin the tail on the donkey, or pin the tail on the elephant... who cares. It's about the issues.

Guys, Liberty University and Liberty Counsel have no common board members and have completely different missions. Liberty Counsel does rent space from LU and does provide clinical opportunities for LU law students. That is the extent of the relationship between the two entities. While the two organizations share some of the same conservative values, our missions are as different as the missions of, say, Harvard University and the ACLU. Don't confuse the two. They don't take orders from us and we don't take orders from them.
