We just have to face the fact that right now when we go on the road this is how our games are going to be played. Its not easy on the heart, but I don't care a W is a W. We should be able to beat Radford even playing like we've been playing on the road. Then we have 3 very winnable games at home before we finish with 5 of 7 on the road. Our last 5 road games we will have to be playing better than we have during our first 3 road games in order to win.

On to Radford.

My thoughts from the game last night. The Millis Center is small but gets really loud quickly. Liberty should've been up by 20 at halftime and won by 30 + but turnovers are really becoming a concern. I sat with Antwaan parent's last night. Nice folks. He looked a little lost at times when Jesse was calling plays. Overall, we are 6-1 in conference. Can't wait for the Radford game. P.S. High Point students have some of the biggest potty mouths ever. I yelled "brick" whenever HP players shot their first free throw and some guy from over 100ft away said some pretty unsavory things. It was pretty enjoyable jawing with their students though.

I really have to chuckle when I read things like "we should have won by 30+ points. Based on what? History? I don't think so! This year's team has basically won by grinding out games down to the wire, and if you go back further I think you will have to do some serious searching to find the last time we won a BSC game by 30 on the road. Don't forget that HP beat us there by almost 30 just last year.

Having higher expectations is one thing. Not giving opponents credit and expecting to blow everyone out is another. HP is tough at home. They are 2-1 at home in the BSC an I think 5-2 overall. Their guards are as athletic as any we have faced in or out of conference, and they forced a lot of those turnovers. Yes we also gave it away a few times, but we made up for it by killing them on the boards.

When you say something like "we should have won by 30" you are basically expecting us to play flawless ball while the other team continues to make mistakes and shoot poorly. It just doesn't work that way in real life. This was a good win. A real good win.

Olldflame, that sounds like we took a page out of Carey Green's playbook. Play Basketball

I think the "we should have won by 30 points" comment was based largely on the idea that we had too many TO many of which were unforced. While I agree that this was a solid win for us it is also obvious that if we cut down the turnovers this is easily a double digit win (probably not 30 but still). Also I believe HPU is more like 2-4 then 5-2 in the BSC. But as has been said it is always great to go in and get a W on the road in conference and as you said got to love the way we rebound as a team.

If we had turned the ball over 9 times instead of 19, and scored on every one of those extra 10 possesions, (which we all know doesn't happen) we still don't win by 30.

Agreed...whoever said 30 was off. But we still never trail in the game and it saves one of us from having an early heart attack

When I said HP was "5-2 overall" it was referring to their overall home record, which it turns out is actually 4-2. The other team to beat them there is Hampton. HP is 2-4 in the BSC; 0-3 on the road and 2-1 at home.

If we had converted 3-point shots on each of those additional 10 possessions, we could have won by 36.
If we had been fouled on each of the 3-point shots and converted the and 1's, we could have won by 46.
That is how my 10-year old would see it. :)

We shot 48%, they shot 36%.

That's a recipe for a blowout.

It's not irrational to think we should have won by a lot.

But there's a ton of things we should have done better. Which is a good and bad thing. It's good because we won anyways and can only improve. But it's bad because we need to fix them or we won't beat better teams (CCU, WIN...)

Good teams find ways to win, but they also find ways to improve. We need to continue to do both. HPU game looked like UNCA and GW games. We need to improve before we get to the beach trip and the last weekend of the season (@PC/WU)

I agree. We need to improve our play for the 5 out of 7 road games we have at the close of the season. I fully expect we will. The last 2 games at home we had we played very well, but then back on the road last night we reverted to how we've been playing on the road. We know we can play better it's just a matter of doing it on the road. I have no doubts we will since that is just mental.

We just need to keep it to less than 10 and we don't lose until NCAA Tournament. You can't score if you can't run the offense long enough to take a shot.

Otherwise, this team is making all the right moves. Way to go guys!

Not many teams out there turn it over less than 10 times a game. That is unrealistic. I see your point though. A team goal of maybe 12-14 a game is reasonable at this level. There have just been games that they were in the 20's and that is kind of crazy that most of them were wins! I don't know if I think they won't lose another game. However rebounding and defending the way we have been seems to be a solid reason to overcome sloppy play at times.
