Jindal is the only one listed in this thread I could vote for with a clean conscience. And he has done everything he could this past 12 months to indicate he's not interested in running.

As for Palin, I'm not a fan for a number of reasons. But there are certainly worse politicians. She just has a machine working behind her to promote her brand. Frankly it is similar to what we saw from the Obama camp in '06. There is still plenty of time for Palin to paint herself as a populist so I wouldn't dismiss her chances.

Frankly I have a tough time locating a Conservative candidate that I could excited about right now.

I would be ok with any of a dozen potential presidential candidates from the 'R' side. If Ron Paul were not so old, he would probably get the nod.

I am more concerned about what happens in the House and Senate. More work needs to be done to undo the train wreck that has been taking place for the last two years.

While I think Sarah Palin isn't the best choice, I really like her ability to connect to the common man. It's just how the media seems to solely exist to destroy her (which is why I began my first post with my sarcastic jokes) that I don't think she could win. But that's just my view. The Republicans just need to choose a Conservative/Libertarian candidate, not the typical country club (John McCain, George Bush) type.

Paul Ryan, but he says he won't run. I like Palin and what she stands for but she probably can't get elected because so many opposed to her will turn out in droves to vote against her. We've had such a long run of leaders that, fairly or not, have been divisive -- Clinton, Bush and Obama -- I would hope we can eventually get a president all Americans could rally around although, with the political climate the way it is, I don't hold out much hope.

IMO SP was the leader going into the clubhouse for the Reps.....but this last ordeal has ruined it for her. I'm glad too, b/c I dont think she could have won but I thought she was going to be nominated. She has now become a fame whore...heck she even shared the screen on HER own reality TV show with Kate Gosselin for heaven sakes. Not to mention the ignorant comment of having a political hit list....of course she was not the cause of last indecent...but you just dont say some things...and having a hit list on people would be one of them.


She's a great women that I think can run a state....and run it well. I'm not sold she's capable of running a country but I think she's realistic though and knows her limitations so hopefully she would rely on other capable individuals. I dont think she's got a shot at being nominated by the Reps though

I'm not sure which George Bush you were referring to as being the country club type but George W Bush was elected b/c he came across as a common man like you were saying. He even bragged about his average grades and intelligence. It's just a matter of being "Presidential" or being uncommon and conducting yourself in that fashion. Obama does this brilliantly at times with brilliant speeches but fails miserably at times as well with the inability to speak intelligently naturally. IMO having your own reality TV show and having a daughter that appears to be a Britney Spears style train wreck (just not as bad) and on dancing with the stars does not appear to be presidential.

You can be a man (or woman) of the people while still being presidential. I may be in the minority (nationally) but I dont want to look at the President of the free world and think "Wow, he reminds me of someone that could live next door to me" I want to look at him and say "wow, he's a rare breed"

Both. Also throwing in her daughter is completely wrong, it's not like a mother has complete control over her kids (believe me, I this from personal experience that being raised by great parents doesn't lead to perfection).

You can disagree on the reality show, it really wasn't about her but about Alaska (if you actually watched it). I'm not saying she's the sharpest tool in the shed, and there's other Republicans I would like better (even though I'm not a Republican), but I'm not sure anyone can dispute she's been treated unfairly by the media and other psuedo-conservatives and Republicans.

To answer your question first: Throwing in her daughter became completely fair when her daughter decided to pose on magazine covers and be featured on TV shows......and if you dont believe your children is a representation of yourself then that's just foolish. Is it fair? Not really but that's just life. Dick Chaney's daughter was gay....it made some press but you never got the feeling he's promoting it to get bigger name recognition. I feel like SP is pimping out her daughters celebrity status at times....just my opinion

Can a woman run a country? Books have been written joking about women are from different planets then males but it's completely accurate. We're wired completely differently. Is the drastic difference in numbers of men CEO's and women CEO's is b/c men have been holding them back all this time? I find that some what hard to believe. I believe the reason it is not common for a women to be in that position is b/c for the most part they have a hard time separating emotion from decisions. Could Sarah Palin really handle the dirty details of being President that the general public doesnt even know? Bombing a school in Iran b/c terrorists are located in the same building......I'm not sure, maybe she could.

For the record SP along with millions of other women in the world are far smarter than I will ever be! I'm just simply asking if we had a rating system and a man was rated 90/100 and a woman was rated 90/100 is the woman really the better choice? Maybe it is but I just cant imagine it b/c it's never been attempted and my ignorance about this is the same as many had about minorities that tried to reach high positions.

I just know that minorities and whites are not wired differently...but men and women are. I guess today's corporate women is wired differently then the women of 40 years ago too so that changes things as well....

Palin has fallen in love with the attention from the media, pretty similar to a current president.

2000, George Bush was popular for a number of reasons....

1. Dad was a former president
2. Governor of the Republic of Texas
3. followed the MAJORITY view that nation building was wrong.....look it up if you do not believe me, he criticized Clinton big time on the campaign trail even though that all changed when he was in office....very similar to our current president.
4. He was funny
5. He seemed like a genuine man who cared about people.
