So, I'm thinking we're gonna need some help to be able to keep up with coastal record wise. Maybe WU taking it to them at home, and UNCA doing that thing where they catch fire. I was hoping VMI's craziness would take them out but hopefully they got them nice and tired on the road for us.

I don't think we are built to beat coastal. we turn the ball over too much and we are smaller from what i hear. Unless we have an unreal shooting night... and i mean 75%-85% we just don't have the personel to keep up. If we get help great.

Wait, what?

We've cruised through the Big South to the tune of 5-0 and you don't think we have the personnel? Jesse is playing out of his mind right now, JA seemed to find his shot against CSU, we've been begging for a guy like Jon Brown for years. Vander Pol/Burrus are giving us great minutes at the 5.

If ever we had a team to compete w/ Coastal, it's this year.

Apologies that I have the game listed as 7 p.m. in the game story for tomorrow's paper. Nobody told me of the time change. Was going off the media guide. Apparently the game is at 6.

Coastal Carolina is the odds on favorite here but not by much since this game is being played at the Vines Center. If we play them as good as we played the Bucs this game will go down to the wire. I believe this will be a good indicator of where we are at compared to where Coastal Carolina is at. I don't think I am stretching to far in saying that this regular season championship will be between these two teams. So I can't wait for round one to begin this Saturday.

I am totally baffled by the concept that we "need help" to finish ahead of CCU this year. Who is going to help us........ the teams we already beat? It's true they have been a matchup problem for us, and handed us 2 beatdowns last year, but I think we are a lot better now. If we are going to get the top seed this year, WE need to beat CCU at least once. I don't think we can count on anyone else to do it for us. Scores against common opponents can be misleading, but I'm encouraged that the CSU team we dominated last night was able to go into the chicken coop and take the Chants to the wire. REALLY looking forward to Saturday night. I'll be bringing a group of about 15 from my job.

I believe most students won't be back by then. You'll have some - but I wouldn't expect more than a 1000 at the game on Saturday.

Students are not back. I doubt we will have more than 2500.

We're averaging 1800. We're not going to have 2500 when the students aren't back yet. There were only 848 there last night against Charleston Southern.

Probably optomistic, but it's Saturday, it's a big game, and I think we are doing some special promotions in the community with free/discounted tickets.

I don't see how that's so baffling. I don't think we'll beat them. We're both good teams but they're going to present a lot of match up problems for us. That's not the case for every team in the conference. Especially like Winthrop for example, who seems to have Coastal's number even when CCU's the better team, UNCA can catch fire and pretty much beat anybody, VMI is always unpredictable, but unfortunately it didn't work out last night.

The only students who will be in town will be the locals and some students in town for intensives...you wont see large numbers of students at games again until the game two weeks from yesterday when VMI comes to town

The way we play team defense will keep us in most games this year, including Coastal on Saturday We will definitely have to have a good day offensively to win but we don't need to shoot anywhere around 85% to win. If we shoot that well I would expect a victory by 20+ points.

We continue to improve and this team is definitely exceeding all preseason expectations BUT Coastal is a superior team. That is not to say we CAN'T win rather no one should be EXPECTING a win. I do expect us to keep it competitive and would love to see us eliminate the turnovers and put that problem in our rearview mirror forever.

I agree that we aren't and shouldn't be the favorite (as CCU is the reigning champ and undefeated) but if we play our game on defense and just have a good night on offense. There is no reason to think we don't come away with a win. But CCU is not so much better than us that we have to expect to shoot 75-85% from the field to beat them (as FFG was saying). If we ever shot that well I would be shocked if we didn't win by 20+.

The key to beating Coastal is cutting down our turnovers. Don't do that, you don't win.

I just think it's sort of defeatist. We seem to agree for the most part here that Dale Layer is a good coach. We talk all the time about how this year's team has been "finding a way to win". Is it so hard to believe that he can figure some things out and make adjustments that will enable us to turn it around and present matchup problems for them, and that our guys can get it done? Personally, I think we can. I'm not "predicting" a win, I just think we are as capable of beating the beach chickens as any team in the BSC

Ok so to review Winthrop is the reigning BS champs. If by undefeated you mean in conference then that's great but we are too. Shouldn't we "expect to win" or is that a slogan reserved only for football now?

I think we was referring to CCU being the regular season champs. The true measure of who the best team was, but obviously a title nobody cares about. I think the team should expect to win every game they play. But us as fans don't need that mentality since we're not actually playing. We just watch and yell.

We have had 13 turnovers in the last 48 minutes going back to the end of the UNCA game. That's pretty good by most team's standards. It doesn't mean the problem is solved, but it looks like we're making progress.

Ok so to review Coastal Carolina is the reigning BS regualar season champs (we currently happen to be playing the regular season so this is the most likely comparison that I would be drawing upon). And to be clear CCU is undefeated in the BSC as is LU. That being said how again do you argue that LU should be the favorite?

Also I have a gut feeling that LU will take this one at home but that doesn't mean they are or should be the favorite to win  I've been known to be partial to one of the teams playing.
