I hope it doesn't matter either but I disagree. If we are 9-2(8-2) with losses to NC State and (SBU/CCU) we would likely get in. We'd have wins over JMU, RMU, Lehigh. Not bad at all. Or if we beat NCSU and lose to JMU I think we're in.
That's what I was saying. That's why I said FCS. Study

Disagree.

Delaware makes the playoffs because they deserve to make it, d2 or not. With our schedule for 2011, we can do enough OOC to still get an at-large if we slip up once in the Big South.
I meant in regards of the 7 win eligibility. Not that they deserve to make it, although they do.

I think so....I asked Mike the other day when the schedule is usually finished and he said it was already done and gave it to me. I assume if they gave it to the players, it should be in stone, but I guess we'll see once it's posted on the school's website.

10 straight games will take a toll on the players. No time to recover from the weekly bangs and brusies. Bye before SBU could be good to prepare for the playoff run

What a schedule! For those of you that have been following the program before Rocco,is this one of the best the team has played?

The D2 game will be pretty close to a bye week and it's in a good spot - right before conference play.

Its certainly an improved schedule...I would have liked to see another SoCon, MVC or CAA squad in that slot for Kentucky Wesleyan but all things considered well done.

We pretty much knew that wasn't going to happen at least this year trying to do it last minute.

Adding another tough game in that spot would have been a mistake. Every team in the country plays at least one breather game in the non-conference.

Nice article in today's fishwrap about next season's schedule (thanks, Lang):
Flames bolster non-conference schedule
By Chris Lang
Published: January 06, 2011
...Liberty will play the strongest non-conference schedule in Danny Rocco’s tenure as head coach.

For the second time in three seasons, the Flames will open on the road against an FBS opponent, traveling to North Carolina State on Sept. 3.

They’ll play two playoff teams from 2010, hosting Robert Morris on Sept. 10 and traveling to Lehigh on Sept. 24. The Robert Morris game completes a home-and-home series with the Colonials. Lehigh will visit Lynchburg in 2012 to complete the home-and-home deal between the schools.

Liberty also will host James Madison in the third year of a four-year series between the teams on Sept. 17.

I'm still kind of disappointed that we weren't able to schedule a lower tier FCS team instead of a D2. But at least it will give us an incentive to win the Big South, without the asterisk.

All in all this is a terrific schedule for us. It would have been a perfect schedule if we could have gotten a St Francis/Savannah St type team in place of the D2, but it is what it is.

This schedule gives us the opportunity for a headturner win (NC State), and gives us the ability to play ourselves into the playoffs if we were to happen to slip up once in Big South Play. If we go 9-2 or better with this schedule we will be in the playoffs.
