looking ahead, our challenge will be against Coastal. Chuck South is a little better this year, and UNCA, after the loss to VMI, looks more like a possible win.

I like where we are now. A win against UNCA and CSU puts us in extra good shape. As for Coastal for me it's hard to read until we play them, but certainly we'll know where we are after we play them. The way the league is this year, the only guarantees are 2 wins against Radford.

Jesse earned BSC Player of the Week honors (actually "co" but we don't use that word around here):
Big South Announces Men's Basketball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (http://www.BigSouthSports.com) - Charleston Southern senior guard Jamarco Warren (Gainesville, Ga.) and Liberty junior guard Jesse Sanders (Sugar Land, Texas) have been named the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week...

Sanders averaged 11.3 points, 5.0 assists and 4.8 rebounds in leading the Flames to three wins in four games, including two Conference road wins. He averaged 17.5 points and was 12-of-20 from the field in the two League games, one of which was a 19-point effort in overtime at Gardner-Webb. He went 7-of-7 from the free throw line against GWU and sank two in the final second of regulation to force the extra period. Sanders then knocked down the game-winning jumper to give the Flames the win. He then finished with 15 points at UNC Asheville, including a clutch three-pointer with 1:27 remaining to put Liberty ahead by four points. Sanders, who also contributed eight rebounds at Hampton and eight assists against Union College, went 15-of-26 from the field ( =57.7 percent), 2-of-5 from three-point range ( =40.0) and 13-of-16 from the line ( =81.3).

And the guy he shared it with, CSU's Warren, averaged 22 points per game (compared to Jesse's 11 ppg). Is KK finally showing LU some love?

It never gets old to update the standings when they look like they do.

Also, interesting that VMI is now 0-3 at home and 2-0 on the road in conference.

Losing Moore has really killed the little scoring punch we had...hit only 3 of our first 20 last night at PC....I think we can play well at Winthrop tomorrow since they play the same ugly style.

I'd like to see you guys serve Cliff Ellis a tall can of whoop a-- tomorrow....he cheated at Clemson, and is pretty much taking any questionable castoff from other schools to win at CCU....crook.

To be fair to our CCU folks, Ellis hasn't been caught doing anything wrong in Conway.

To be fair to everyone else, Ellis' track record would give more than ample reason to believe his interpretation of the rules is generally much wider than everyone else's viewpoint.

Absolute crapshoot after CCU and LU in the top two slots. UNCA just pounded PC in Clinton, and Radford beat HPU tonight. We crapped out in Rock Hill.

Betcha VMI hopes to have no seed higher than 5 heading into the tourney.

This week will be a big week, like every in conference play. But CSU and CCU host PC and WU. Will be good barometers to judge those 4 teams, particularly CSU, PC and WU.

We also need to win both games on the road this week to continue to challenge for the regular season championship.

Apparently the UNCA blowout of Presby in Clinton is at least partially explained by the fact that Coleman went out with an injury 10 minutes into the game with the Blue Hose ahead and did not return. No information on what it is or how bad.

Or it simply evened out the fact that DJ Cunningham has been out for the 'Dogs.. If UNCA keeps the shooting up & the TO's down the 'Dogs can beat anybody, anywhere..

"If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas".

Plug the name of any other school in the conference in for UNCA, and it's just as true. (OK, maybe not Radford)

Thanks Captain Obvious... I was making a generalized statement based upon the last 2 games oldflame & wasn't going to be specific..

I would say that isn't quite accurate as Liberty shot the ball very well last night- 43.1% from the field, 47.6% from 3 & only had 10 TO's.. note that those numbers aren't quite at the Bulldogs clip the last 2 games but those shooting numbers were higher than Coastal's last night.. yet no win.. so I'm guessing it's not "just as true"..

And Mike Holmes is now suspended "indefinitely"
The release says Holmes is "suspended indefinitely from all team activities for a violation of team rules."

“We set forth our team rules and regulations at the beginning of the season and we expect all of our student-athletes to abide by them at all times,” Ellis said in the release. “It’s a disappointing situation, but we are going to move forward as a team and focus all of our attention on Winthrop.”

Very interesting...I'm kinda curious as to what one has to do to get kicked off an Ellis coached team. It was convenient that it happened right after CCU's road trip up to LU that gave Ellis his 600th win. Although it must have been pretty serious as I'm sure CCU would like to have Holmes for Winthrop.
