Only on FlameFans can a discussion of FBS realignment turn into a discussion of Civil War anachronisms.
Only on FlameFans can the word anachronisms be used in a sentence correctly.

Just b/c this topic never gets old HA. Here is an ESPN article on the Pro's and Cons of BCS teams. Mostly about how much $$$ is spent. We are nowhere close to the dollar amount of elite schools. One stat not thrown is was that 109 of the 120 1A football programs MADE money. Money, which the article points out funds other sports.

Points you may have overlooked in your article:
My Top 100 list doesn’t offer details on where programs’ money comes from. It just shows what they report and ranks them. – UNLV now includes rental revenue from their facilities, and they make a lot of money from the Thomas & Mack Center. That’s how they bring in $61 million and “grew” revenue 84%.

We just got a huge chunk of money to make capital improvements to our football complex.

90. Liberty – $26.4 million; 11.6% growth
That amount is doubled by the time you reach
49. Illinois – $53.5 million; 3.8% decline
Tripled at
19. Kentucky – $79.7 million; 10.6% growth
And nowhere NEAR
1. Texas – $143.5 million; 3.7% growth from 2008-09
2. Alabama – $129.3 million; 24.4% growth
3. Ohio State – $123.2 million; 2.8% growth
4. Florida – $116.5 million; 7.6% growth
5. LSU – $109.9 million; 9.9% growth
6. Michigan – $106.6 million; 12.1% growth
7. Penn State – $106.6 million; 11.1% growth
8. Tennessee – $100.7 million; 8.9% growth
9. Oklahoma – $98.6 million; 21.1% growth
10. Wisconsin – $93.9 million; 4.5% growth
11. Auburn – $92.6 million; 6.4% growth
12. Notre Dame – $90.8 million; 12.1% growth

So guys, if LU were to join the FBS next year, what would their record be? :D

This never gets old. After all, it's hypothetical you know

After we beat ND and FSU, we were playing Temple. It was a home game for us, but for some reason we were playing in a baseball stadium. And a Temple player came off the bench and tried to start a riot with the LU student section and got a 15 yard penalty for it.

I promise, I'm making none of this up, I really dreamed it lol.

It depends on what conference. First...the NCAA regulations for moving will end this August, right? So I imagine even if we were offered an invite...let's say from the MAC...it wouldn't be until 2013 that we actually played in the MAC.

I could see us going something like 5-7 in the first year of the MAC...if we scheduled 2 home games against winnable 1-aa teams...we'd actually be 3-7 against division one teams...

But we'd get better the next year 2014 and finish 6-6.

Then, in 2015 we'd go 8-4 and some would complain why we were left out of the bowl games.

After that, in 2016 we'd go 8-4 again...this time we'd play in the MAC championship game and lose...and somehow still get left out of a bowl game...and the flamefan website will be crazy about how we just need to win that last game and get the autobid into a bowl game that comes with winning the MAC.

Others will think it's time for us to move up into Conference USA to keep these MAC schools from holding us back.

How's that for a guess if history is any indicator?
