Thanks for not calling me old even though I just turned 1/4 century.

Thanks everyone for the welcome. When you say that U-Verse televises most Liberty games, is that the five games that will be on FamilyNet or are there any other channels that play Liberty football games on national television? Thanks again guys.

I was on-campus before I was online, so I've been a Flames fan for a LONG time. When I get the chance, I link to this board whenever we have to write Introduction posts on the discussion board (don't know if we've ever had a new member because of that, but I try ;) )

I wish we could at LEAST have an archive of games available online; even if we could have something up on Tuesday after the game, it would be something. The saddest thing about the Big South taking over streaming games -- they do a LOUSY job of it. Really sad.

This is awesome to see the online students getting involved. Now sly explain to me how i can watch on AT&T u-verse now? i just changed over not too long ago. I thought we weren't on there?

also Don't think i've ignored you guys I miss being a regular here. unfortunately helping start a brand new football program at a school where athletic tradition is an oxymoron is sort of time consuming. I will be following the guys this year and our bye week is the week of coastal so i might drive up to the beach for that game. and if you guys have any free time on the weekends check up on us down here in atlanta.

all that and you guys probably didn't even miss me

I don't know if the guide will show it. As far as I've heard they're still showing them. We'll see I guess. :P

Not to worry. MASN doesn't have any of the games in the program guide either.

i noticed that. and unfortunately MASN isn't carried by At&t. grr. i'm getting nervous that i won't be able to DVR games.

I might have to rely on a certain good looking guy who used to be my former boss to send me broadcast tape in the mail :)

As we mentioned in a separate thread, FamilyNet was still listing the old game time of 7pm for the St. Francis game. I feel confident that Charles Stanley's crew will have us on live A WEEK FROM TODAY.

And thanks for posting, NewportNewsMike. The more voice the better around this place.

At my church I am surrounded by a number of LU Online students & grads who generally have only been on campus a time or two for intensives. Several of them have our athletics logos on their rides and many would love to check out a game in person here in Texas. But for some reason, we haven't had anything to attend down here in a long, long time. Well this fall we have mens & womens hoops to rally folks. I just wish they both weren't simultaneous the week of Thanksgiving.

I know this a old thread, but as a online student I had to give my two cents. I'm from VA so i've known about LU for a long time, but once I started taking classes it changed my prespective. I had "hometown" allegiances, but once I started attending LU and it became my alma mater it crushed my enthusiam for other college teams. I just don't understand how you can support other teams at the expense of YOUR school. I've read of the resident students having those issues, and it baffles me because you would think they would be LU fanatics since they attend the school on a daily basis.

My wife was miffed because she thinks of it as going to school online and thats it. She busted my chops because I haven't attended a class on campus, and she doesn't see how I can have school pride. Well I take classes, watch games, and i'm trying to connect more and more with the school. I wear my Nike LU hoodie with pride, and try to spread the good word about this university in VA that is on the rise. The school is young, but there isn't a doubt in my mind that it will be huge and in a short amount of time.

I hope that other online students take the school seriously, and will give back because we can be a critical part of the alumni base. No matter where we are we can spread the word about LU, and hopefully over time we can be part of a strong alumni network.

With the rapid explosion of LU Online it would make sense for the school to find a way to connect the students afar to LU athletics.

And for the record, I consider LU Online students to be on equal standing with resident students when it comes to being a part of the LU family.

I feel everything you said bravo. Most people think it's weird to have school pride when you only go online, but if you think about it, isn't it weirder to root for a school just because of it's geographical location? I chose to go to Liberty online because I pretty much love everything about it and the whole concept of the university. I just as easily could have went to a local school... but then I wouldn't be going to the greatest university on earth.

On a related note, onliners now can get their Flames Pass for free. I just got the email a few days ago. Not sure if it has any benefits really for me all the way up here in Wisconsin but it may have benefits for some onliners.

Yeah, I agree with you. My buddy was wearing his Notre Dame shirt, and was giving me grief for wearing my LU shirt. He was shocked i'd support a no name school. I just told him atleast I went to the school on my shirt and he stopped. Once people think about it like that it dawns on them why we support LU. It's OUR school.

I got the e-mail about the Flames Pass too. It'd be great to have in case you were ever in the area, but the requirement of physically having to pick up the pass makes it out of the question. It's a great intiative the school is doing though. I don't think other schools try to make that connection with their online students. Thats one of things that makes LU the best.
