I have one of the more interesting amalgamations of favorite sports teams:

Football: St Louis Rams. Been a fan since they launched " The Greatest Show on Turf" with Kurt Warner, Az Hakim, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce and "Big Game" Torry Holt (former Hargrave Military Academy postgrad). COurse my dad was a Bears fan (see note below) and wanted to turn me into one growing up.

Baseball: Atlanta Braves. Ive been a fan of them probably longer than any team except for my favorite basketball team.

Basketball: Chicago Bulls. My dad was born and raised in Chicago and I became a big fan of Michael Jordan when I first started getting into sports about age 7 or 8.

Hockey: Detroit Red Wings. We dont have an NHL team back home and so for a while I didnt have a favorite hockey team. I gravitated toward them around middle school.

As for me, I do prefer teams that are around where I live. I like West Virginia (of course, LU first), Washington Redskins, Columbus Blue Jackets (where I was born in WV is only about 90 minutes away from there). I do like the Tampa Bay Rays for baseball, and probably the reason why is that I spent much of my summers as a child down there. But I always hated the Orioles and before the Nationals they were the only team around.

I guess I can't understand why if you were born in Lynchburg, why you might like the San Antonio Spurs, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, etc. But hey, to each his own.

I'm not a Redskins fan, but I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. They actually signed a good contract that would have kept his services for 5 years if they felt he was still a premier QB and the person to lead the team. The Redskins also have an out clause which allows them to release McNabb with no further financial obligation at the end of this season. After not getting it done in the first 13 games, Shanahan decided he is not the same player he once was and it was time go in a new direction. It looks like McNabb will be released at the end of the season.

I'm all D.C. sports, all the time, minus the Nats because I grew up going to Orioles games, all the way back to Memorial Stadium. My only issue with Snyder is he brings in people and personnel that seem clueless about football. Spurrier, Gibbs and Zorn. It just seems to be an endless cycle. If he really wanted to buy a winning see, just call the Steinbrenners.

call it a bad gamble. with many "toldyaso's" being directed down there from Philly.

Sal Pal thinks the guy may have a shot in San Fran or Minnesota next year, barring a lockout.

apparently the 3.5 mil guarantee was only for this season but Washington owns his rights COMPLETELY until Sept 2011, so they can hang on to him all offseason and thru training camp next year if they wanna.
