I guess this would not be the appropriate time to get revenge for all the times you made fun of me for making stupid, useless spreadsheets that calculated a bunch of meaningless numbers. IM NOT BITTER!

Seriously though keep your head up!

I can still make stupid, pointless spreadsheets.

I can't tell someone how to do a lookup table or a mail merge without the actual program open and remembering how it all works. :|

Oh well.

Keep the faith ... the position that suits you best is out there and you have to keep chasing it and avoid discouragement.

Appreciate it, this is the main thing keeping me going, knowing that my skills and abilities match up perfectly with some job, somewhere.

She asked me to walk her through some slightly advanced (more than just making formulas) Excel stuff.

I bombed and couldn't remember anything. :(

Really frustrating and disheartening. It's just been so long since I actually had to do anything with Excel that I couldn't recall it all without actually doing it.

Keep praying for me guys, this is really wearing on me.
The same thing happened to me a couple months ago. I went in for an interview, and he put a piece of paper in front of me with with a flow chart, and asked me some questions that involved me doing algebra. Now, I was actually really good at math all through school.....10 years ago. I couldn't do it. If I would have been in a room by myself and given the problem, I could have done it, but I was totally unprepared. I had no idea I was going to have to do math in an interview.

The actual interview part went great, but, well, I didn't get a second one. It happens. (Though that's the first time that has ever happened to me.)

Did it involve a maze & a 1 minute time limit?

I have a ton of applications out, including to the University in town for a job there, but I just really need something to develop soon. This is looking really bad going forward, with loans that need to be paid, and no income to do anything about it.

I don't want to be a burden to my family, because it's not like the financial situation is any better for them. I really hate to bring this up and keep crying about it, but I really don't know what else to do.

Sorry guys, but if you can't help, which I don't expect anyone to, but if you can I'd appreciate it, then please pray. God knows I don't pray about it as much as I should. So pray for that, too. That I'll focus more on God's will here.

TTL - If you want to get a job that will pay and you can see the world come teach English in Korea for a while. This site should get you started:

http://www.gone2korea.com/index.html

There is a large group of Canadians, Americans, Kiwis, Brits, and Aussies here teaching English so that they can pay off school bills. You don't have to be an English major. Take a risk and try it. If nothing else you get to see the world and pay some bills.

You can come over to my house to watch LU games, but you can't complain like you do on FF. 8)

I wouldn't dismiss SeoulFlame's suggestion out of hand. It is a great way to ride out a lousy economy while getting international experience (particularly Pacific Rim) that will make your resume stand out in a crowd.

One of my few regrets in life is that i didn't pursue some overseas opportunities right out of college before the responsibilities of family life restricted my opportunities.

Seriously. People need to realize how awesome complaining is. Every day I wake up and find a way to complain about everything, and I couldn't imagine being happier.

It's something I'm warming up to. I really don't feel I could teach, but a lot of that is due to my lack of patience with American school-aged kids. I'd imagine the culture is a bit different abroad. ;-)

I'm going to look into it, I know my sister is considering doing the same thing.

If I had nothing holding me back in the states (GF, wife, kids, lots of family etc) I'd go in a heart beat. Worst case, is it's a great life experience.

Actually I'm wrong...now that I think about it, the worst case is you ending up in some guys trunk holding you for ransom b/c he thinks your family here has a lot of money or something. Yeah....that's the worst case. I've watched the show Locked up abroad quite often.....there are a lot of things that could happen to you actually.
