Well, Hawaii is definitely west. And has mountains. Perfect fit, I guess, in today's football-conference landscape.

I sort of feel sorry for the teams left over in the WAC. I really can't think of another conference who would take them...all of the good programs have already been pilfered.

You are correct that no other league will take them. But they don't need to go anywhere if they can find another football member. Perhaps the absence of the Hawaii expenses will sway the Grizzlies to reconsider their decision. Otherwise the WAC will need to get creative in a hurry.

This was a good move IMHO for UH. The travel for smaller sports will be a heck of a lot cheaper now that they are going to all the southern cali schools. Seems like this one makes the most sense out of all the moves lately.

It was a very logical move for Hawaii. The travel for most of their sports has been a nightmare; and also, their other sports should do well in the Big West.

Again, very logical move - Football to the MWC is a moot point when it comes to travel issues. The teams are scattered, but travel for their biggest team revenue-wise is no biggie.

All other sports to the Big West makes complete sense. 7 of the 9 teams are clustered around either LA or the Bay Area...much cheaper to fly into those areas.
