Interesting. Some Heisman voters have left Cam Newton off of their ballots:
At least six Heisman Trophy voters have made it public that they left Cam Newton off their ballots, because of all the controversy surrounding Auburn's quarterback.

They are, according to The Sporting News: Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Bianchi, Philadelphia-based writer Michael Bradley, Gene Frenette of the Florida Times Union, David Whitley of AOL FanHouse, Kyle Tucker of the Virginian-Pilot and Seth Emerson of the Macon Telegraph.

Newton wins easily. Of course, he'll be stripped of it in a couple years, but it won't matter at that point.

This is really a one-horse race, given the hype Newton has received all year long. I guess being on an unranked team kills your chances, because Denard Robinson should have been a nominee.

It's interesting that there's no one from a mid-western school this year.

I'm not as confident in many of you that Newton will win. Sportswriters in general are a crusty bunch who love to throw their weight around (sorry Scribe, present company excluded). I would not be shocked if he finished second due to a protest vote.

I am curious as to whether Luck will stick around at Stanford for another year when he looks to be the #1 overall pick in the draft if he comes out. With dad getting paid well in Morgantown he doesn't need the money.

If it were just about on field accomplishments itd probably come down to either Newton or James for me...although Moore has very quietly put together a very good season. Id probably vote:

1. Newton
2. James
3. Moore

These voters should have their voting rights stripped away. Sports writers are some of the most self important people on the planet. Especially when you take into account how unimportant they really are.

Says the guy who's been trying to tar and feather Newton for the last two months.

Your Newton obsession is getting obnoxious. It's either clouding your thinking or your being purposely obtuse. They are supposed to be voting for the best college football player. Instead they are trying to make some kind of statement, I can only assume based on their thorough in depth personal investigations of him. Yes, self important judge/jury/executioners shouldn't be allowed to vote. You vote for 3 players. If he's not one of them, you clearly have an alternative agenda.

That's a bit much, yes?
A kid with a felony burglary charge, who was caught cheating in college on 3 occasions, to the point that he was facing expulsion...demonstrates integrity? Honestly, how many times has someone with that sort of record established been considered seriously for the Heisman?
Oh back in 1972 Johnny "The Jet" Rodgers won and he was convicted of a felony so...it's happened before.

if you don't think any of the other athletes on the ballot aren't getting illegal perks in some way shape or form you are insane. the ncaa saw him eligible so in their eyes he's innocent as of right now, he should be in your eyes regardless of how you feel. its nice to see that those not voting him in are perfect citizens and have been completely perfect over the last couple of years....no speeding, no cheating on their taxes. it makes me feel safe as a member of society.

sports writers generally are hypocrit scum. see jay mariotti.

If Cam Newton wins the Heisman, a couple of past winners need to go give there trophys to Peter Warrick and Lawrence Phillips. Warrick was shoe in  before the Dillards incident
