to go along Smith (2011), Hughes (2011), and Rembert (2011), and Baker (2012)
Devon Walker (2012, 6-foot-4, combo guard)-Walker immediately impressed with his length and athleticism. A possible point guard prospect, Walker sees the floor well and has a feel for passing the ball. His ability to rebound defensively makes him a dangerous threat in the transition game. He has an offer from Liberty and interest from Louisiana Tech, Boston College and Florida International. Louisiana Tech and Boston College are scheduled to watch Walker this fall.
Matt Williams (2012, 6-foot-4, shooting guard)- A bouncy athlete, Williams shot the ball well from the outside. He also had success attacking the basket, especially going to his left hand. Williams has offers from Liberty , North Florida, Florida Atlantic and Rider have offered Williams, who is also getting interest from Central Florida, South Florida, Western Kentucky and Tulsa . All the schools that have offered and Central Florida have checked on Williams this fall.
if anyone is wondering Barnette, Johnson, Hairston, Ford, Washington are the rest to report offers for 2012. and Washington is the only big (6'11)

washington is a projjeeeccct. If you guys think Mcmasters and Vander Pol are projects this guy is way less developed than they are. He's playing for North Cross over in Roanoke this year I believe, one of the private schools there.

Ok I watched about half the video and one thing just got my goat...

He settles for hook and jump shots at 4-6 feet from the basket. if you can pin a guy on your backside at his size (Washington) you need to go with a drop step or some sort of move that takes you right to the cup. you can NOT just settle for jumpers. he isnt going to have those always available at the college level.

From the class of 09 wrote:anyone have a scholarship grid?
We are full with 0 scholarship seniors. We've already signed 1. So, we actually have 1 more player than schollies. At least one current scholarship player will not be back next year. If we get any more LOI in the spring, then we will lose more current players.

I think there are 2 obvious players on scholly who we could "let go" if needed.

I am a little confused. Are these offers for next fall (2011) or the following (2012)? Devon Walker is listed by ESPN as "considering" for 2011 and above as 2012. If we are talking 2012 then we have several openings since Jesse, John Brown, David Minaya and Jeremy will be graduating.

I predict that one of our current scholarship players will be a graduate assistant next year. No inside information. It just makes a whole lot of sense.

Recent developments seem to indicate another young man needs to get his act together in a hurry.

Yeah, he would be #3
And #2 would be the one who I am quite sure has been told frankly that he is here on a 1 year "audition". So far it doesn't look like there will even be a bit part for him after this year.

Can we separate 2011 talk from 2012 talk? It looks like we could probably upgrade with one or two more recruits for 2011 but who are those? I would love to talk about that more but I have heard no talk of potential 2011 recruits not even our guy that has supposedly verbaled. Right now we have just one signed.

These guys we are listing in this thread are for 2012 where we have several openings.

I edited. All the prospects mentioned besides Smith and Hughes are 2012. I rather have an official recruiting/commit thread, easier to keep uptodate with the offered and interested prospects. again that's just me.

I have broken out some individual threads but this one can remain for the general flow. Its the best of both worlds. Thanks for doing the leg work.

anyone see him play?
Andrew Lucas is averaging 27 points, 2.8 assists and 3.8 steals a game.

"Just this week, I got an e-mail from one Division I and a Division II coach," Hampton said. "He can choose what he wants to do."

According to Lucas, Liberty University has expressed interest.
"If I had a chance [to play college basketball], I would definitely take it," Lucas said. "It would be a dream come true to play D-I somewhere."

But before that comes, the team is still looking to add more banners to the gym.

"I'm really determined," Lucas said. "After last year, I think we've got a pretty good group of kids. If we play our game, we should be able to beat anybody."

A familiar face in Hampton leads the team. A new face in Lucas has added the firepower.

new offer for '12

Image
Larry Taylor
6'1 160 PG

85 on espn http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketb ... rry-taylor
Taylor is the prototypical high basketball IQ point guard with the slight bit of edge to his demeanor that is needed to succeed at the next level. He is always looking for the right pass and always under control, while using change of speeds and deception to gain a step on defenders. As a scorer, he often finds a way to finish around the basket with Nash-esque layups while also possessing a consistent mid-range jumper and reliable stroke from deep. He is at his best when working off the pick-n-roll as a passer, which should translate well to the college level. As a defender, his length and quick hands make him a thief waiting to happen, and although not an ultra-quick guard defensively, he is able to use that length and hoops IQ to stay with speedier ball-handlers. Taylor has paired with University of Central Florida signee Kasey Wilson to lead North Port to a 15-5 record overall currently, with a 5-1 record in district 6A-7 play. Recruiting wise, Liberty University has officially offered the heady point guard, while he is also received interest from a number or other low to mid major division 1 programs.

By the time I left SWFL, NPHS hadn't had a senior class yet. It's a new school in a newer/growing community.

NPHS isn't really that great of a program yet. Nowhere near the level of my (and UNCA's Chris Stephenson's) alma mater Charlotte High, who despite being 25ish minutes down Highway 41, have not played each other this season. Would have given me a better barometer of where this team is at, and where this kid is at. That being said, this is a public school playing other Florida public high schools. This isn't a JVP situation where he was playing Christian schools. NPHS plays Port Charlotte, who has sent guys to DI schools. They play teams from Tampa and Sarasota/Bradenton and Fort Myers who send players to DI schools. He's battle tested, moreso than JVP was, and he'll be ready for Big South play (just look at Stephenson, since CHS plays a similar level of competition).

But any time we can sign someone from the 941 area, I'm happy. It's an underrecruited area. Glad to see the Big South getting involved in recruiting these kids.
