The season is still young, but it seems like Coach Layer has found 2 players that have filled in nicely for Kyle Ohman, who graduated. With these 2 starters, along with JC Sanders & Chene Phillips coming off the bench, are we a stronger team this year than last?

By position in the starting lineup, Brown is replacing Konan. That is a HUGE upgrade.

Minaya is playing Kyle's position. We haven't seen much of a dropoff in numbers there despite the frequency with which Kyle jacked it up, and in fact David has shot a higher % both from the field and the line. Overall I would say we are better with the 2 we have now.

I think JC and Chene are also an upgrade from Perez and Stephene as backcourt reserves. Factor in another year of maturity from Jesse, Antwan and Evan and the addition of JVP and Sommy for size off the bench, and I think we have a chance to be significantly better.

And JVP is making the most of the few minutes he's getting, pulling down some key rebounds and blocking a few shots. Sadly, though, Carter seems to be lost somewhere toward the end of the bench.

Carter may not make it 4 years here at this rate. I really expected him to pull it together this year and show us something. He still might...

Oh and no question Brown and Minaya are better than Konan and Ohman at this point. Ohman had the talent but was not always a team player. Both these guys are.
