Anyone who has made the statement "I dont even want us in the playoffs," or anything close to it, is not a true fan. There is no excuse for that.

Now this isn't the way any of us wanted this to turn out, we wanted our future in our own hands. It is our job to show up saturday and be as loud as we can. Put everything we have in this game and hope. We are a good team that made a ton of mistakes yesterday. It happens and we still have a shot! Keep your head up folks, don't give up!

I have to say this concept is absurd. let's translate it into something we are more familiar with. The 2004 basketball team had some really awful losses early in the year. Would anyone say they didn't want them to win the BSC tournament and go to the dance because you are afraid they might revert to form and "embarrass" us? RIDICULOUS!!!

If we beat SB and somehow get in, we deserve it, and I will be one very proud and happy alum!

There is only one LU football team. That team had a bad day Saturday. They are still our team, and seeing them in the playoffs is what we as fans have waited for since we made the move to 1AA. The idea that after a bad loss we don't want them in because we feel they somehow aren't "worthy" is the height of arrogance, and IMHO borders on fan treason.

How about we stop judging how much of a fan someone is? If they're on FlameFans and not trolling or from a visiting team, they're a fan. Just because some fans think differently doesn't mean you should question their fandom.

There is no "Fan Code of Conduct". Give it up, none of you are the authority on how to be a fan.

While we might not think we are deserving of a spot, and the auto would require a miracle, I would love to see us selected because it would let us all know that people in the FCS are really beginning to recognize that we have a good program. Remember how incensed everyone was when Maine got selected over LU? One thing we knew is that the FCS crowd recognized Maine's legitimacy over an LU team that is really just becoming something; how nice it would be to have the shoe on the other foot. Unlike Maine, we will probably have a stronger team next year than we have now.

If we beat SBU and Coastal loses, or if we crush SBU, we will "deserve" it. Then, our body of work for the full conference season will have earned us our way in. Those are the rules of the game. Certainly, what we watched yesterday was not a playoff-worthy team, but make no mistake, if either of the scenarios above plays out, we will "deserve" to go. I'm going to be just as excited if we get in this way as I would have been if we were 11-0, and I'm not giving back the playoff spot if we get one. (I'm also not ignoring the brutal performance I watched yesterday - playoffs or no playoffs.)

I agree with you that they most definitely do think we're a joke. I heard all about it in Delaware before I moved here, and I heard it loud and clear on the telephone multiple times last night. Also, that feeling was quite obvious at the JMU game. This isn't what I wanted for sure. I think we should be 10-0. But we're not. I'm irritated by that to no end. But, we've seen teams slide in through the back door in many sports and win some games.
(By your definition of "playoff worthy", I can also agree that we haven't consistently played like a playoff worthy team.)

This is by far the most confusing fan base EVER. The opinions are all over the place from fire the coach, to we don't want to make the playoffs, to we could make it, to we'll embarrass ourselves, to we will win in the playoffs. I'm worn out.

From a fan standpoint, I don't want to watch us get crushed in Round 1 of the playoffs. I don't think that happens, but if I'm looking at 2 choices(the other being missing the playoffs) I would rather see us not make it...but that's as a short-sighted fan.

At the same time, no one here could argue against the program benefit of making the playoffs even with a blowout loss. Recruiting, money, and program prestige all rise with a playoff appearance. So as short-sighted as I am, I would still choose making the playoffs with a blowout.
